went to check on the beast in storage today,*** was slammed to the ground!

I don't know if it has something to do with the cold weather but my rear was slammed to the ground and legit you cant even get a finger in the fender.I unlocked it and started it and it raised on its own but I don't know if I have a leak or if its normal.

My brother said his e55 did that too when he stored it but this is like my 5th year with the car so its news to me.

another issue that I hope is just the battery is that I don't think the alternator is working as the car was on a slow tricle the whole time and I started it and I got the huge red warning and I checked the volts while the car was running and it was 11.8 and from memory I used to see around 14.1 while running.

I have the battery on a 10amp charger now and hope the car will start charging again after I get the battery volts up.

and I think I can say that I have gone the longest on the stock oem battery and this might be the year to finally change it,it was giving me really weak starts last winter and even with the charger on it now it went from 80% to 75% with me just hooking up my scan tool to scan the ecu and if that took out 5% then it looks like my battery is junk.

but can someone tell me if its normal for the car to dump all the air out the rear shocks in the cold?

Slamming happens if you don't start the car in a while, best way to see if you have a leak is raise the car and leave it raised and then go and check after a week or so

If I leave mine in the lowered position it will slam in less than a week. If left in the raised position it stays up for months.

Just the rear on mine if left in lowered position (not the sport 1 or 2, but just in the raise lower position being in lowered position)

But I leave it for 3 months and it stays up if I have raised.

...what if you have spacers and the wheels are hella flush...if the car slams while sleeping, it'll damage the fender, won't it?

It's tiny pinhole leaks or seepage. Unfortunately normal with age and not worth fixing. Most common in the rear. It would be a good idea if your storing it to put it in the raised position, put wood blocks under the lift pads and lower the suspension until it just barely sits on them. That way your not over stressing bushings or the air springs.

Just started mine a few days ago. After its winter hibernation. Battery needed a boost. It was sitting on the floor. After the juice it returned to normal. This happens every time after a long hibernation. I had bad luck one spring. After starting it up it wouldnt raise. Cluster was a scary red and said something like stop car to low. Turns out that prior owner had a airmatic leak and used silicone of some sort to plug it. Cost me a few hundred quick at an Indy shop and its been smooth sailings ever since. Two years and counting. Good luck you should be fine. Im on links with stock wheels. Fender damage is not a concern on mine. Oh yeah the part that was replaced was the compressor behind the front bumper. Something that I could have replaced myself. The shop smoked the system to diagnose. I was happy with that because it verified no other leaks.

It's been like two weeks since I've had mine running and last night I noticed just the back getting low (again).

What do we have 20 days till spring?

I've been storing our E55 and other autos for 8 months every year with no issues whatsoever. For the storage period, the E55 is on jacks and a Schumacher battery maintainer is connected. A simple trickle charger will boil the battery if connected for even a few weeks. Batteries should be replaced every 3-4 years depending on the operational environment.

Guys check the rear reservoirs on each rear shock by spraying some soapy water , if it bubbles it will be corrosion usually under the rubber pipe, I had this and it slowly got worse.

After repair leak all fixed

Been fine since, left it for weeks and no drop

I don't believe I would have that corrosion problem since I don't live in the snow and salted roads that destroy a car. Crazy how rusted the bottom of your car is. Mine has no rust. Good ole Florida.

Lol good ol uk and darn salt they put out, it's all surface rust on components, actual car is sweet and rust free ( for now)

I would still check for a leak at the same Point as aluminium can corrode

I really need to learn to shut up. Checked again today and both fronts were bottomed out. Fired it up and hit the lift button and after maybe 10 seconds idling it came right back up for me. Let it idle a couple min while lowering it back to regular height. We'll see what it does in the next couple weeks I guess. Threw the charger on it at 2 amps. Shuts off on its own when charged. It fired right up no problem but figure a lil charge time can't hurt it.

SKRATCH try hooking the charger to the small battery under the hood and charging that. I had a convenience functions disabled light when the car was fairly new to me and a lil charge as well as starting it with the charger attached still seemed to bring everything back to normal. I think the extra voltage from the charger may have tricked the computer into thinking things were working properly or something. Before that it wouldn't go back to normal and it was fine for me all last year after I did that.
