CD Changers... Anyone still using em?

Any of you guys still using CD changers? If not what are you doing with the space?

During some searching I've seen some folks using the pockets in place of the changer... I think AMGfan used the space for a switch panel but never saw pics of it...

2000 E430 4MATIC

I just picked up my "new" 2000 E430 4MATIC. It has a CD Changer in the trunk, but I have not had the time to figure out how, if it works. If you have any idea, I would like to try it. Will eventually put in new type of deck with blue tooth and perhaps digital music. Bose system sounds great, but I have no idea if I can even use the CD Player at this point. When I choose the CD option on the deck it gives me a message No CD. So, does that mean there are no CD's in the Changer, or the Changer is not connected?

Sorry, I am not really answering your question. Yes, if I could use the CD Changer I would for now.

I was specifically referring to the W211 since they are "hidden" behind a panel in the dash

host some wifi, pandora, spotify, mp3, etc...

Well when you pull the changer there is an opening in the most ring. From what I know, the way to go for that though is to get the Denison interface

I loaded all my CDs onto my laptop about eight years ago and haven't touched one since
It would be cool to make something else out of that, maybe a wideband and boost gauge.

You can remove the CD Changer, replace it with the "tray" A 211 683 00 91 for storage.
In order to do that you will also need a fiber optic connector (I do not have the part# i'm afraid), to keep the fiber optics circuit closed as you remove the CD Changer.
I did it on mine, it is very easy.

I don't have it but found it before pretty easily. When I was reading the threads, looked like a lot of folks were removing them, but no one was posting what they were using the space for now

I'd like to remove the changer and gain the storage, but I understand that you lose the motorized opening/closing.

Am I right?

Sirius XM

Consider a SXM adaptor and receiver. Lot of music genres and news. NavTV and others make kits that interface with the MOST system, and they have dealers/installers in most metro areas. SXM has recently upgraded the quality of their signal so it can be decoded into a multichannel higher bandwidth sound by the typical MB Comand system. This also preserves the ateering wheel controls.

I still use mine because for whatever reason, the 6 disc changer plays MP3 CD's, but my top slot load does not. Freaky.

Haven't touched my CD or CD changer in last 2 years. Having been listening to SIRIUS. I was thinking about adding the iPod connection but a big hassle.

No, you still need to press the button to open and close the compartment, that functionality is not lost.
