Just picked up a white E55 on a whim. Love it.
I've loosely been playing with the idea of picking up a W211 E63 for a while, but wasn't going to make a move for a few more months. I was cruising ebay and happened to come across a white '04 E55 with 68k miles that didn't meet its reserve. I noticed the seller was Mercedes Benz of Encino (only 20 minutes from me). I saw on their site they were asking 21,000, but disclosing a previous accident on the car.
A few began posting about it on this forum as well so I went to go look at it in person as well as the carfax. I was skeptical because it was 1) a dealer car and 2) an accident car. (Both normally red flags in my book). I had a friend come with me who has more experience with E55's and used to work as a tech for that dealer. Long story short, the car was incredibly clean, and aside from one headlight looking a little newer than the other, you would never be able to tell it was in an accident.
The sales manager (Neil) talked to me for a while about the car. He knew both previous owners (60+ year old guys) as well as the accident (car got backed into and they just replaced the headlight and bumper). Paint is a perfect match and again, you wouldn't be able to tell. The interior was incredibly clean as well and all service records were up to date. It was a CPO car up until about 15k miles ago. I drove the car and it felt great. Everything in the car worked awesome. They pulled out their records and prior to putting it up for sale, they did roughly $3500 in labor on the car. All new rotors/pads/fluid/tires/tranny mounts/tranny service/oil/etc.
My buddy chatted it up with them for a while and when I stepped into his office, without me even saying anything, they threw $19,900 on the table. I had the money, the car seemed to check out much better than I thought, and the price seemed very fair. I picked her up today and the more I drive it, the more I love it. Seriously. It also helps that I saved roughly $10k over what I would have shelled out on a W211 E63, and honestly, I don't think it would have matched the driver joy out of this car. Also, it's white. Which I love. If this was a silver/black car, I doubt I would have bought it.
Andy Shears was the salesman I worked with at the end to finalize everything and he was great. Both Neil and Andy were respectful, honest car guys and gave me some hope with dealers and used cars. Just goes to show, there are some good ones out there! I highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate working with them at Mercedes Benz of Encino.
Anyways, here are the details:
The car is a '04, White on Black, E55. No panoramic, no distronic, no parking sensors. Has push to start, nav, blue tooth (retrofitted), sun shade, and some other things I can't remember off the top of my head.
I also have a Cammed C6 Z06, so the 55 will be my daily. I like torque
Long time lurker, and finally I have some stuff worth posting. I plan to deflower this virgin with a nice set of wheels, blacked out emblems/grill, tint, lowering, and then likely H/E, IC pump, pulley, and tune. But for now, enjoying it stock and learning the car.
Happy to be a part of the AMG family . On to the pics...
And getting aquainted with its new stablemate.

Looks nice... I like the factory chrome wheels. You should get the roof vinyl wrapped gloss black as it will contrast the car nicely.
There can't be many duo car setups better than an E55 and a Z06

I saw that car too and could tell from the pics it was super nice. I am supprised it lasted that long. CarFax is a joke and people act like it is the bible. You did you research and prevailed. Nice work! If Carfax reported the facts they would be taken much more serious.

Which surprised me that they kept to the "out the door" price they originally told me. I always fear with dealers there is an "out the door" price and then when it is time to pay they add a bunch of BS fees on. Not the case here!

You scored, nice E55! You'll be glad it doesn't have pano roof, all they do is creak. Enjoy that beauty.
