I'm keeping my E55 AMG Kleemann K2+, but I want something different as my daily driver. I'm considering an 800-900 hp Nissan GT-R or an 800-900 hp Cadillac CTS-V. I will either purchase pre-modified or I'll purchase and then make mods after I purchase. Any thoughts as to which car you'd choose? (a "real"back seat is convenient, but not a necessity for me).

depends where you work i guess.... coming out of a gt-r in a suit dont feel right.

CTS-V > GTR too much crap to go wrong and who knows how long to get parts flr a GTR. The Caddy is an LS motor with a fairly common trans and larts are availabke all day. Plus you have way more people that know the LS inside and out.

GTR will hold value much better than the Cadillac but the rough ride will kill you.

I've driven both.

I preferred the Caddy. It actually reminds of the E55 - calm and tame when you want it to be, a nasty violent thing when you want it to be.

Again, it depends on what kind of driving experience you want.

I can not comment on the reliability or quality of either car as I test drove both for about 30 mins each. Having said that, I think I'd get tired of all the crap the GTR had going on.

Modding GT-R's is hella expensive, but you reap the rewards due to it's wonderful drivetrain. A CTS-V will likely be a better daily driver and will be FAR cheaper to mod but it'll generally be slower as well. Now, CTS-V coupes...they are so sexy that it doesn't even matter.

I personally know a few GT-R guys that have over 800whp but they have dumped over $40+K in mods to get there, and the ones with 1000whp have a cool $80K invested.

Two very different cars....Since you already have a fast 4 door sedan, get the GT-R...That said if you are commuting a long distance on harsh roads, and this car will truly be your daily driver, you will enjoy the CTS-V more IMHO...

I recently test drove a 2012 GT-R, and honestly I wasn't that impressed. A good amount of turbo lag, the ride was harsh, and in the end it felt like more work than fun. I did not get to try launch mode, which I've heard is the best part, but I don't think that alone could sway me back towards considering one. I left the dealership in my lightly modded E55 and honestly had more fun driving it than the GTR.

i realize that, but who said it "would" go out? theres no way to know if he would ever have to replace it or for that matter engine.. axle.. drive shafts.. or how often. how long would the life expectancy be for the caddy? not sure about cali or fl but in michigan anything domestic is rusting in 5 yrs

if you were to keep the E55 and buy another sporty car... get AWD! thats why i say GT-R imo

finally sat inside some CTS-Vs recently -- both the wagon and coupe have surprisingly little room, and the interior built quality is about on par with a Prius. I guess you're paying for only the motor and supercharger but... what a poop box inside.

I disagree but everyone is entitled to an opinion. It might not be as good as an E interior but I came from a C63 and that interior was plastic crap compared to a V.

GT-R. With less than it costs to do a bolt on "stage 3" E55 you can have this. Contrary to what GT-ER said, you do not have to spend a ton of money to have a fast GT-R. In fact you can spend closer to 5 grand than 10 and have one that runs very low 10s or even 9s consistently in South Florida weather with the same wheels you run daily, no need for skinnies up front and a drag pack.

I'd get the GT-R as well. If you get the 09+ CTS-V there's no point in keeping your E55 since its like an older version of the same car.
