Do it! I will gladly buy in the first batch. I will most likely buy more than one!

looks good. But don't see it really helping with the heat from the engine and those tubes are just gonna get hot and raise your IAT's since they don't dissipate heat to well.

That looks amazing. Would really compliment a set of MBH headers.

It looks great, but what are you going to do with those tubes in your engine bay? That air is gonna be so damn hot! I'd expect you lose quite a bit of power, no?

Correct me if I'm wrong somebody ... that last pic just looks like a power loss, especially with the T setup and tubes like that.

So what's the answer??? I agree with the T setup, should be a restriction.. The metal will also heat up.. With a ceramic coating this would be nice.. Looks good.. I would play with another Y pipe setup.. As stated what's the answer??? I personally Need more air on my car and am actively looking for this answer...

Looks really nicely put together

I will be running four different setup's this weekend will log IAT's but more importantly will have the timing beams to record top speed. Rolling start so no variation in launch and then 1.6 miles of runway

I will test

1. Stock intake with BMC filters
2. Needswings CAI with supplied spectre filters
3. 3 inch Y-pipe with 5 x 8 inch K&N mounted over the coil packs (and headers!)
4. 3 inch Y-pipe with 5 x 4 inch K&N mounted at the front of the bay behind the radiator

I will post up the data next week.

Jerry@Eurocharged dyno tuned mine (4"spectre filter) without any noticeable airflow restrictions. Of course, removing any type of air filter from an intake will gain hp. On a side note, I think the open filters in the engine bay will be the best option for the racing days with our high hp 55K motors.....

Did not get a chance to test but the Needswings CAI uses the standard plastic python tubes which could also be a restriction but it does point towards the tiny filter's. In fairness they seem fine up to 495 RWHP so it also depends on the mods you have.

When I log the runs it will be interesting to compare the first 11 secs of heat build up and effects on timing/fuelling as well as what happens after that point as I will still be accelerating for at least another 20 secs on top.

Open filters in the engine bay will lead to timing being pulled thus killing your back end of your 1/4

The HP monsters at the Texas mile were either running with no filters on their turbos or huge K&N cones getting nice and toasty under the hood. Would the 1/4 be different?

The DEI intake wrap alone is not enough so that's why you want to wrap the DEI sleeve with Jegs Heat Barrier Shield. The DEI sleeve is good to something like 400f but the tubes will get hot sitting above the header. The Heat Barrier Shield is good to like 1200f when wrapped once and 1500f when wrapped twice so I chose to only wrap once since I already had the sleeve in place. You don't have to believe me but I have the original "Fangs" setup that people said it wouldn't work due to heat build up in the tubes then I realized that Novitec wraps their intake tubes on their twin supercharged builds so that was enough convincing for me.

Go out and disconnect your intake tubes from the stock airbox (if that's your setup) so that your are drawing air from the engine bay and if you have a data logger log before and after runs from a dig up to 130 tubes connected vs tubes disconnected.
