Carbon fiber drive shaft

I could swear a couple weeks ago I heard mention of someone that had a carbon fiber drive shaft, A quick search here revealed nothing, anybody know who owns one or where i can purchase one for my 2005 e55.

There is a user by the name of "V12Godspeed" who had to put it on his car because he put in a v12 bi-turbo engine in his E55.

I think his was Carbon fiber. I could be wrong but he's the one who twisted the drift shaft whilst on the track on his first run.

Haha, Yes that was classic. I have a machinist here in NY and he built me one for about 700-800 bucks If I recall. Pretty much made it out of Chrome Molly. He told me if I twist this one he will refund me the money and build me a new one for free. Its holding out excellent.

They are light and can be stronger if made right but many are still forced to go steel, when a lot of power is added.

Carbon fiber is used it a lot of promod cars making 3000-4000hp BUT in short lengths. The E55 driveshaft can be made in CF (I've checked into it already and they have made some already I was told) BUT I was told the weight would be very close to stock so not much of a weight savings to be had.

Is there not a way to do a driveshaft loop in these cars? Sorry, only had mine for 2 weeks so I haven't gotten under her but as a long time drag racer, it's a requirement in the 12 second range, which these cars seem to be capable of smashing. As for the Cf shafts, a few of the guys in my old camp have gone with them and the common comment seems to be if you daily drive the vehicle they're not worth it. As soon as you kick up a few rocks and chip the shaft the integrity goes to hell. Just what I've heard though.

What are you doing in the tens without a driveshaft loop on that hoe?
