Akebono brake pads squeak
Hey everyone!
Had awful squeak from the fronts about three weeks ago, searched threads and ordered Akebono brake pads,
Was happy until a week ago, squeak is back, as awful and loud as it was before,
Can anyone please tell me what else could it be?
Thanx and please help, this is so annoying!

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
1) Glazed brake pads. Caused by not turning rotors and/or not following any break-in technique. Remove, turn rotors, sand down pads flat. Avoid breathing dust. Brakes only work off the friction of two 'flat' surfaces. If one surface is not flat (break in or not turned) then the pad will overheat as the smaller surface area tries to stop the same amount of vehicle.
2) Loose or worn brake component hardware (clips, etc). Clean/inspect brake hardware.
3) Rotors worn beyond min spec. Too thin and it will not allow for adequate heat dissipation. Again, heated pads.
4) Did it come with shims on the back? They are generally good for preventing any squeal caused from the back of the pad. I don't use gunk.

I installed the EURO ones in the front 2 wks ago, bled brakes, and bedded them on OEM rotors. Then took the car to HPDE event last weekend and performed well with hard braking for 20 min sessions. No squeak at all.

Mine are sqeaking too...I only just replaced the rotors and pads all over for oem, but they're being annoying. I even did a good breaking in procedure (10 x gentle stops from ~30mph). Maybe I'll lube the pins or something.

Akebono pads were the best upgrade I ever did on the E55 (reduced brake dust 99%). I rarely get a little squeal, so take the advice here, add some anti-squeal. MB should have used these as OEM.

Thank you for all responses, brakes are still squicky, awfully annoying, problem is not solved, have not been to the shop yet,
Speaking of rotors, they might have been changed, before going akebonos i went to dealer and asked to check em out as i still had dealer's warranty, dealer said they replaced em as well as the pads, all OEM, free of charge, week later squeak appears again and warranty is expired,
Went to benzworks in socal, had my ecu tune done, pulley, engine mounts and gaskets, asked em bout the brakes, was told that my pads are chinese knock offs - trust to the dealer is doubtful (?)
Got Akebonos, had local shop install them (good yelp reviews but in fact not trustworthy people as well), squeak appeared after a week or so, called the shop, was told, bring for inspection for extra cost again,
Quick note: really hard (slamming on a brake pedal to the floor) repeat braking (5-7 times in a row) on low speeds (10mph-0) solved the problem for next 10-15 mins of driving, but it sure looks dumb doing it at city roads!
One more note is Front brakes are always produce more heat waves than rear ones, also front brakes smell weird!

I have akebono on al my cars and they never make noise. Did you use the anti friction or noise lube on the pads?

Akebono Rear Squeal
I have a 98 W210. Originally replaced the rear rotors with Zimmermans but at the time, I incorrectly ordered the 2 pin Akebono pads. I put the old pads back on and replaced them with the correct single pin Akebonos 6 days later. Horrible squeal in reverse. After a few days took the pads back out, sanded them and wiped down the rotors with acetone. I also left the stainless shims out that were on the previous Textar pads as the Akebonos have something similar already adhered to the back of the pad. Still have an obnoxious squeal. I'm tempted to put a new set of Textars back in as the rears don't produce that much dust anyway. Any ideas?

They squealed like I was stopping a city bus. It was very very embarrassing. I finally got out on a country road during a road trip, no other cars around and bedded them from 80 mph down to 10 mph and back up about 8 times. Squeal never came back!
Akebono's and new rotors are next.
