How to: flip top hood
For those DIYers wanting to cherry pick their engine and reinstall it themselves, here's a ten second tip to facilitate its R+R without removing the hood. The factory gas shocks have an extra two inches of travel in them, the limiters are in the hinges. So to stand the hood on a 90' angle, remove the upper two out of the three hinge-to-hood bolts and let the third lower bolt be the apex. The gas shocks will stop the hood at just short of ninety degrees allowing full access to the airspace above the engine compartment.

I just pinch the hood release in both hinges, do right side first then left.

I'm sure I will want to see what kind of times I can get out of it. Orlando Speed World just sold to a new owner that's making a lot of improvents and it's about ten miles from me. It was a dump before, I haven't run a car in many years.
Yeah that's the truth! It's been down about a month, and I've been slammed with work so this has been the side project. I've done a lot of one-off stuff to the engine that I'll detail in a thread as I put it back together for others to learn from. Those kind of things take forever to plan and get right on the first try. Even then some trial and error is necessary.
