I don't know anything about the situation BUT reading the Rolex reply I would imagine IPS was trying to charge and outrageous price. I would also guess they would not give any kind of estimate of what the kit would cost and said it would be one of those things that they would build it and "help him out/hook him up" and in turn they wanted him to take it in the A**.

Arrangements were made like any other R&D project we do. Everything at cost. There was only a rough idea of the estimated cost. Yes, it did take us longer than anticipated, but some of that was beyond our control. And some was on our end.

Jeeezzuusss every turbo build way back from Ted Baldwins natty e55 super build, or Vadims attempt @ APS style quad turbo sl65, to the SLS twin turbo build last year & few others (barring supposed twin charged cls55) these aftermarket turbo builds ALL start big & slowly vanish like a toxic fart up in the wind..

Haaa, you of all people. Come on man, you have built many cars and know that things happen during the build, costs change and so on, if you don't have the stomach (or cash) then you probably should not take on a build. You know that and I know you of all people do. Take it in the a** is a little extreme wouldant you think.

They are kind of a PIA for all involved. There always seems to be major misunderstandings along the way.

Wow, what a shame. Was looking forward to the finished product and its results.
Good luck man.

Late model MB's aren't the platform for plug n' play turbo kits, sad but all the domestics & cheap euro 4 bangers OWN affordable turbo kits.. Either buy v12tt or new v8tt & further mod it or prepare for your bunghole to be massively ported while your MB collects dust during 1 or more yr long build attempts etc That rarely come to fruition..

Yes I know costs change and things happen but I also know as a business owner myself that let the customer know what's going on or changed and you let them know additional cost before something like this happens. I don't know what the cost was but I gather from the Rolex comment that the price was either far more than discussed or expected. The saying of pay to play is true as we all know but if there's always a limit somewhere

I think these turbo builds helped make my mind up on what direction I will go.

Damn brotha! When you text me earlier I was in disbelief, And now is official. Very sorry to hear this! I hope you can still get it the way we talked about. I've run into so many fitment problems is just crazy. But it is being welded back together and tuning will commence soon. Can't guarantee anything yet, but I am shooting to run it on the 26th. So keep your fingers crossed that I don't run into any other problems.

CTS-V? Lmao

I also have a feeling this setup that was mentioned early on to be under $10k (think they said around $8k) probably turned in to closer to $20k and that is when **** hit the fan. I know nothing from either side so am just an outsider but that makes sense to me.

9 to 12K is not bad given the amount of work....That said, it is not cheap either....

Interestingly someone else got their turbo setup working a lot cheaper and faster....

For $10K why not just use Weistec 3.0L SC which is more reliable or just sell the 55 get the CTS-V

The Weistec is not reliable. I think every single person who has got one has had problems whether it be high intake temp issues or tuning issues.

I guess that leaves CTS-V lmao. I love saying that.

I did drive my E55 all day today though I am not trying to make mine "fast" though, I will stay away from those nightmare headache problems everyone else has been having.

That does sound good . I agree 100% with you and believe it cost more than quoted. I've really wanted to slap a stock blower back on and see if I can pull some weight out and run 9's. Then I guess I'll be going the Weistec/whipple route. I have a 4.0L blower but the price for them to make the stuff to use that blower is more than the 2.9l kit. Guess I'll have to throw a decent size shot on it and see what it will do. Everything was done specifically with nitrous in mind so that's what I'll do.

Try stock supercharger at like 14-15psi with 150 shot?
