You have full exhaust including headers? You should easily beat him, and if you don't have headers than your car isn't much faster than stock, you would still win though. Took me a 2 min. Worth of Google search to figure out how fast an m6 is btw.

Run him from a dig or slow roll (<30mph) and you should have him. Leave it in 'S' in the correct gear and let the car shift.
The M5/M6s have great gearing from freeway speeds into the triple digits. Up to 110/120 from a dig/slow roll, he's all yours - given your IC pump is in optimal condition.
Good luck and stay safe!

This is kind of important. I think most people just cruise down the road with the car in S with it in whatever gear it was in (probably 4th cruising at like 45mph) and then punch it when the race starts and the car then has to downshift to 2nd gear. That takes time to happen where you aren't rocketing ahead, you then also have to possibly contend with a traction problem from the jolt of the downshift (say starting from 35-45mph) where traction control will flash a little not giving you all the power right off the go.
So if you leave it in S mode but hit the stick or button to downshift the car in to 2nd gear so it is already in the gear you need it to be in then it just surges forward when you stomp on the gas and there is no delay giving another car any kind of advantage then since you are still in S mode even though you downshifted, the car will do the shifting when it needs to.

I'd also suggest doing the sneaky ECU reset and then driving the car hard a few times before the race (obviously, let it cool down properly before the actual race). That way the tranny adapts to the aggressive driving and you're more prepared tranny-wise.

There is way to much of a delay in shifting when in manual mode. Keep in sport drop to second gear and go from there. The car will upshift regardless on its own just before red line. It's a nice feature and learned that from forum members a few weeks ago.

How is M mode shifting milliseconds faster? The human hand is controlling when it shifts - other things like hitting redline etc. come into play.
I'm sticking to S mode being the best for racing. I've never raced in M mode only in S and car definitely shifts quicker on its own than me manually pressing the button.
