Who has split their cooling circuit?
A member suggested splitting the cooling circuit. I am curious who has done this mod, how difficult it is to do on your own, benefits, cons of doing it etc.
This isn't as involved as a trunk tank, is it? I do not want to do the trunk tank, I think that is a bit much for my purposes.
Anybody split the cooling circuit? How were your temps after?

Cliff Notes:
A small tank (1 qt. or so) so lower your IATS a 5-10*, reduce peak IAT, and improve recovery tank. A larger (3 - 5 gallon tank) will further improve IATs and recovery time.
Adding a Killer Chiller to the mix will improve things even more....

If you plan on leaving it stock what you have now is more then efficient. If you plan to mod as far as pulley, header, throttle, tune. etc.. That is were your cooling mods are a must.

Yea, I don't plan to mod the car at all, just want to take care of cooling items for the humid summer months - so you're saying Eurocharged's HE and the Bosch pump are sufficient?

IMO, it's unnecessary unless you're modded beyond the upgraded HE and IC pump (i.e. any power adders). Of course, anything to keep the temps down, but your average DD'd E55 (especially if you live in the more congested areas of the country, e.g. DC metro) isn't going to need it, granted you're not going WOT on every opening you see. The recovery time with a larger capacity HE and well flowing pump like the Bosch 010 is more than sufficient. With that said, these cars do suffer from heatsoak quite a bit in the brutal summer months, so it can never hurt.
For my purposes, I am very happy with just the Eurocharged HE and Bosch 010 pump. My temps are solid after WOT runs and recovery time is great.

Have a look at this thread by pearlpower, its one of the best installs I have seen of a front mounted tank.

I hear you...me too. (it's bad everywhere). If it's not a horse and buggy, it's a minivan or Saturn. (or a rogue C300 blasting you in the rear--totaling my E a couple months ago) ![Wtf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wtf.gif)
**Nothing is worse than DC though--not even the LIE. No rhyme or reason to it too...could roll right through on a rainy day, but be jammed for hours on a bright, sunny day.
