curious to see what a modded mustang would cost in comparison with the same parts

and yes, I know it would just be a Mustang, not an AMG

It would cost you luxury, class, 2 extra doors and the sleeper effect.

IMO, always good to add up cost of a hobby, how much we spend on drinking , etc, as you never know, there may always be MORE fun for the buck around the next corner. If I was as drinking/partying 1K plus a month like some around here do and new the cost, then I may quit and have more fun driving a E63 twin turbo , V12, black series for the money VS the fun of tri- weekly hangovers

Precisely. When an action becomes a habit, you stop paying attention to it. To convince myself to stop eating fast food, I calculated how much I spent going out for food every day for a month. I started bringing much healther alternatives to the office

I would post it up, but I don't want the NSA getting that info. They'd contact the IRS and I'd get audited.

$26k for the car in NOV 2011
1 year warranty (worth it! Got me a net gain out of it)
MBH Headers
crank pulley
TTM Fuel rail & injectors
heat exchanger
upper pulley
belt wrap kit
heads
throttle body
Zeitronix/DashDAQ
Tune
*BOOM!* went the engine (that hurt the wallet)
*POP!* went the subframe (reinforced)
*KAPOW!* went the plastic pulley
ASP idler pulleys
Mufflers
Brakes all around (not too bad, actually)
Oil changes
Tires (on my second purchased set)
One headlight went out (ballast, iirc)
Meziere pump
Mirror covers (ordered)
Lamin-X
6k HID bulbs
Valentine One (another net gain)

Bottom line: I am a financial retard regarding cars. This is my drug/alcohol/hooker addiction, so it's OK.

Hey, as long as your spending is part of a budget and a long term plan to deliver your financial goals,I say go for it! For me, spending something like $15k per year on a car on top of significant depreciation and insurance would imply a savings rate of around $200,000 annually; anything less really hurts long-term.

Too much, this is by far the most expensive car I ever owned...... I would have to calculate it. No mods just preventive maintenance, oil changes, brakes, all fluids flushed, front thrust arm bushings, alternator, trans oil service, valve covers, and other repairs. One good thing is my car will last a very very long time. Because I have kept up on all the maintenance and fixed all the major items that can go out and cost $$$ on these cars. So, I will either enjoy it for a very long time or sell it and provide full service and repair records and get top $$$ dollar when I sell!!

Some of you have spent the same amount of money on this car as the cost of a brand new fully loaded Honda Civic lol

I've spend ~$3000 on- Sub frame bolt - 8 hours at Dealer , Roof not opening with one touch, gas sending unit seals, new shock.

Mods- $1000 plasti dipped lol (don't hate)

$500 H/E and $100 install

$145 bosch 010 water pump + $100 install

100 $ for oil change 2 times + $200 cost of oil , filter + new belts

$600 S/C pulley + $140 crankshaft position sensor + 140 install for both

$400 new tires

$500 Eurocharged tune.

I guess you guys don't mind spending money cuz you work and I spend my left over OSAP lol

9 month ownership and over 20k kilometres. Mileage is 178K kilometres.

How do you guys justify still modding this car when the value isn't going up ?
or you just don't care about value ? How do you not care about the value lol ? I mean what reasoning do you give ?

modding almost always brings down the value of a car, so modding a depreciating car makes more sense than modding a untouched appreciating car.

I've never had kept any car for more than 2 years maybe that's why I think these costs are a lot.

The amount you've spent, is the price some people paid for their E55s
but I guess it goes in a bit by bit that's why no one cares that much until the day threads like these come up and make one think haha

Ducati
Paid below market value for the car, spent too much modding and maintaining, and in the end, sold it for more than I had into it. O_O

one thing I know is that some guys (and gals) make A LOT of money and can simply afford to be 'careless' or maybe not even that; being happy and having a good time with what's essentially a hobby and as we know, an addiction haha, but that makes it sound clinical and deprived of common sense........but DAMN, it's FUN to personalize a car to your taste
