x3 - Something is not right. The CLS has been tested consistently in all magazines at close to 120mph or higher.
Tuning will not lead much and I tend to agree that most people buying a $50K will not make substantial mods that will void the warranty.
A tune or downpipes is one thing, larger turbos etc is another. Look at most of the people on the forum with the C/E/CLS. Very few take the leap of doing obvious mods that will void the warranty.

If the CLA45 doesn’t quite cut it, how many you will entertain the idea of buying the twin turbo 4.0L V8 in upcoming 2015 C63? This is basically two A45 2.0 motors merged into one. No official numbers have been announced yet, but car internet rumor mill has it that the car will have the same 4Matic as the rest of the AMG line up.

I think some of you guys are glossing over this video too quickly. While yes, we did see the CLS getting reeled in, they also explain at the end its because the CLS shifted to a higher gear, which in turn allowed the A45 to catch it up. Hope it makes more sense now. Its even happened to me before while running my buddys SS. He was a tad ahead till like 80 and when I blew past him he stopped and patted himself on the back for being "as fast as an E55" in his words. He refuses to do some reruns.
