It was 750 or so, maybe a bit more from:
Jegs: Behive + retainers (Ti) - but you can also get tool steel ones possibly.
The valve keepers he suggests are not cheap relatively and must be sourced from ferrea or a distro.

make sure the spring cups are opened a bit and are the shorter version unless you wish a higher closed (on the nose)
obviously valve seals.
But yes. Some pics on my thread. He did great spec’ing this.

I never looked at the cups or spring colors so do not know what I have. Engine still in car so just getting everything lined up for the end of year engine work.
Also waiting to hear back from Chris to find out what the rpm capability will be and will the "short block" take a lot more of an increase rpm wise and still make power on stock cams.
What is the limit for rpm?

Trying to find out if there are some nice used cams to measure. VRP has two different kinds. Not sure the money is worth it. Lumpy idle is fine but wish for some more lift and duration. Have to be careful as I skimmed block and heads a bit.

They absolutey do float within the factory rev limits. Obviously not al do it, but as BC928 stated...valve springs are a wear item. Valve float will show up as an erratic power loss on the dyno at high RPM (if you disable the smoothing feature in the dyno software) or you might feel it losing power on high gear WOT runs (but observe no IAT spikes or boost loss when logging)

BC those cams claim 20hp and for all that money I would like to see a return greater than that. Plus when a company grinds the cam to "sound" like it is doing something ….you have to wonder. All that "lump" is nothing more than a narrower rpm band ,tighter lobe separation and a few more horsepower at a certain rpm further up the scale.

Is that 20hp with standard heads? There's a lot to be had from a m113 with correctly ported heads. The inlet and exhaust manifolds are quite restrictive as well. People don't bother doing things properly and wonder why they don't make power.

The NA 5.4 m113 has 38mm inlet valves which should be good for 500bhp in road tune with itb's and factory cams. Yet Kleemann claim 435bhp with all their mods, including cams. Without a flow bench, you cannot possibly tell me that the heads are 'pretty good' from factory.
Ill be testing this theory in future. Let's see how standard heads and cams perform with the breathing sorted out.

have aders and a Massaged intake, and the sc is ported a bit.
It would make my life easier in the short term. I can alsways do big cams later when I find the PTV limit later.

Or depending on how you will drive the car and if/how you race...add Nitrous. A 50 shot does wonders for inter cooling as well as horse power. I found this to be a great asset on any forced induction car and Nitrous could care less what the engine specs are.
I will go with the springs and retainers, spin it to 7,000 and hopefully pick up on the top end but I am going to need a steeper gear , maybe 3.06 or 3.23 instead of the 2.86 I have now to get me higher in the rpm range through the end....I only use 3rd and 4rth gear
Also Chris mentioned the use of different valve keepers "Nissan" at the start of this thread. What keepers did you use for yours ?

Just picked up the retainers. Got a great deal on the Chrome Molly type for $100.00. Can't believe how small they are for the beehives !!
Found springs for $385.00 so got those ordered.
All that's left is to find what keepers will fit....Nissan 240 sx ??

Yes. He has the actually ferrea number in the earlier post. That are surprisingly not cheap.

I can not find the Ferrea K10062 locks any where. I ordered a set and a company sent me K10034 locks by mistake and do not have the right ones. Where did you get yours?

First to test I ordered directly from Ferrea. Then I ordered from a place in Georgia or Alabama. Phone calls, not online for that one. Let me check.

OK plug'n away at this. Measured spring height is 1.540 and stock spring pressure is about 80-85lb's which is pretty good IMO.
Bee Hive set up needs a 50- 60 thou shim to reach 90lb's.
Does this sound right to you Brendon when you did yours ?
I really thought I would have more or equal pressure with the new springs but guess not.
What is our cam lift …..290-,300 ?? So bind is at 1.240-1.260

The spring height looks too much. I recall 1.47 or so. What is also why your closed pounds are too low. Let me double check.
