New AMG engine
A very reliable source I cannot name told me this morning that two weeks he ago visited some of his old friends at AMG in Affalterbach and was privy to see the new normally aspirated 6.3 liter 4 valve/cylinder AMG engine that will debut in AMG cars to replace the current supercharged V8. He suspects the engine to debut in Europe sometime late in 2004 or early 2005 to come to the US 6-8 months later. Watch out M5.

That is what I was thinking. How long should my lease be so I get into the next E55 monster. Don't want the lease to be too short or else I wouldn't have a ride. I need to time it just right. I was thinking 4 years, then 3.5 years, and after reading this, maybe 3 years.
Any thoughts...

I'd say probably a 3 year would be best. I'm unfortunately locked in for 4 but I don't think the final year waiting will be as tough as waiting for this one.

Well Jam, looks like the 6.3liter W211 AMG monster is the one for us to shoot for especially after the mid model upgrade face lift.

I am curious. What was Hartmut and his 12 years as head of "AMG North America" doing prior to 1989 in the U.S. when no Mercedes AMG cars appeared until the 1995 C36?

And why do they have so much trouble with the MB ECU's?
I mean no disrespect here but I have yet to see an article yet where the RennTech cars perform anywhere near where they should for the dollars spent. I seem to remember a certain CLK that was a huge bust in one of the big comparissons a couple of years ago.
The numbers typically show marginal gains then everyone says but you have to "Feel" the car.... I also realize that 0-60 numbers are largely limited by grip so how about some fun 0-120 numbers or 40-120. I want to feel and see the numbers.
Just a bit of a rant.... To each his own

ML 320 CDI
the 6.3 V8 32 valves engine cannot replace the 5.5 Kompressor. At the maximum, it will produce 460 HP with 630 NM which inferior to the kompressor engine. At my opinion, it's more to replace the n.a version of the 5.5 V8 engine.

AMG was an independent tuner before partnering with MB in the mid '90s.
