To an S55? I like my E55, but since the performance is very close, I'm leaning towards upgrading to an S55, would you?
Sorry for the typo in poll.

Rave E55,
Me personal, I would keep the W211 and mod that car. The reason I say that is that I feel the S-class is too big of a car for my liking. Now, if you are 6'5" and need the extra room, then it maybe the way to go.

I did not enjoy throwing the S55 around the track whereas the E55 was a blast. Also you will find that after having the Alcantra headliner in the E55, the standard headliner in the S55 is just not acceptable.

I'd go for the S, but I'd wait for the new S65 which will have the S600's v12 bi-turbo engine with AMG power. To those that say an S55 is too big, I think the new E55 is almost just as bad. If you want pure driving thrills, get a 911 or an M3. As good as the AMG sedans are, they're still sedans. So if you're gonna drive a super sedan, might as well be the S.

I do think the CL55 is sweet though. If I had the money for the CL, I'd have bought one.

I really like the E55--and it is easily modded. IMO, it is a good combo of price, utility, performance, and luxury. For me, the S55 is a little too big and its additional cost over the E55 outweighs any other advantages it provides--ie.) nicer interior and additional room and comfort.
The 65 offerings are a huge jump from the E55----really in a whole other league at least from pricing standpoint--I am hearing from $180K-$200K+. No doubt the S65 would be an awesome car. My question would be if the extra cost of this car would be worth it over the next AMG offering of the E --which will up the ante again.
The real choice is not just between an AMG E (E55/ E60/E63)? and an S65, but an AMG E and ANOTHER CAR versus the S65. Assuming the 65's are going for close to $200k---for just a little more--you may be able to pick up the next AMG E and have a low miles 996 TT X50.
