Supercharger got loud and smoke.UPDATE: MAJOR TRANS LEAK! Pic inside
Only had the car a week. Started up this morning and the s/c was whining louder than I remember. Started driving and noticed some smoke behind the car on acceleration.
I immediately brought the car home and popped the hood. Smelled like burning rubber and there was smoke coming from the rear of the engine.
Since I was on my way to my kids baseball game, I didn't have time to investigate further. Just switched cars and left.
Any ideas what this could be? I'm worried.
UPDATE: I pulled the intake and the pullies and belts look good. Ifound a lot of fluid on the floor pan under the passenger side cat.
UPDATE UPDATE: it's a major transmission leak. Please see the additional photos.
I swabbed some with a fresh rag. Looks reddish. I cant yet tell where it came from. Is this tranny fluid?

I will when I get home. I'm still at the kids game.
I'm concerned because the smoke was coming from the back of the engine though.

99% of the time trans leaks are a trans connector but the fact that its on the front of the cat it could be a trans cooler line.

Red fluid is usually transmission or power steering fluid.
I bet the bearing in the SC pulley or idler pulley went bad, threw the belt and the belt took out one of your lines causing fluid to leak on your exhaust causing the smoke.

Red fluid at the back of engine and puddle under car most likely a problem inside the bell housing, could be torque converter seal or there is an electrical plug that has leaked on a number of 722.s.
If you are sure you heard a loud supercharger sound then Um, our transmissions have a forward pump that tends to make a whirling sound on start up, some of these have failed in the non AMG 722. boxes. I would advise the use of a flat bed to transport to a facility that can diagnose the cause.
here is more info, the fwd pump is #6 and you will see how close it is to the torque converter, but first check the electrical connector.

I definitely heard a loud whine that corresponded with RPM. my wife even mentioned it to me as we were driving. We went out to dinner last night and it sounded normal. Started up this morning and it was whining pretty loud. Drove about 2 miles and accelerated up to about 3000rpm then saw smoke in the rearview. I immediately turned around and came home. The engine felt fine. The tranny shifted fine.
There is a trail of fluid in my driveway and a big puddle under the car and in the under pan. Trans pan is soaked. Exhaust is wet from cats back.

I cant get all the way under the car with the jacks i have. And i dont want to risk driving up my ramps and cause more damage.

Okay. I pulled the belly pan and got a close up look. The cooler lines are intact and dry. The leak is here:
What is that big hole for?

Ouch, that might be a trans pump and/or pump seal. Not a easy fix. The hole is a inspection port and it should have a rubber plug. If its making a whining noise from the trans, i wouldn't drive it. You might cause further damage.
