7 speed swap

7 speed swap
Ever since I saw the thread about the 55k swap into the slk I just can't get this idea out of my head. I want to swap the 7 speed tranny in my E55!!
So far I know the 7 speed tranny bolts up and works with the 55k engine but that's about it. Things will need are:
-7 speed tranny, but from what car and what year?
-TCU
-possibly modify drive shaft?
-differential from the same donor car (can the stock unit but use?)
Is this even worthy of doing? Will the electronic just plug up or do I need the harness from the donor car too? Will the TCU need the magic touch from Jerry? So many question, but that's why I'm here.

I think 7 speed needs a lot of unworthy work, it has a bunch of electronic issues with an V/B as well,,
its also has a complicated software connected to the ECU, through the Starter,
as well as it has an EGS53, which can’t be tuned or reprogrammed......!!
you can modify your exist gearbox to reach A1000Nm,
https://mbworld.org/forums/w210-amg/...uild-pics.html
or put a gearbox assembly from A900Nm", from (S/SL600/65 Bi-Turbo/Maybach 57S/62S).....

I have tried to swap the 7-speed MCT in my Brabus Bullit from the existing 5-speed, it's impossible to do the drivers authorization I wouldn't even try it unless you have a confirmed person who can make the software for the tranny! And the MCT can handle 1000+ ft of torque if upgraded properly, swapping the engine is easier than the tranny.

I'll vouch for them. I mean, they are no TTM, but they did my engine and head swap in a very short time and also fixed/reinforced my subframe. Oh, and swapped my fuel pump which cured my gas smell.

Just wondering what benefits you are looking to get from it?
The tcu is built into the conductor plate on the valve body. Also the harness is different so it would need to be modified.
The high hp sc 63 guys all run a built weistec trans.
Edit. You would gain shift speed, assuming its a 63 tune or custom. Buy not sure if it would compliment our power band?

OP ask Speeddriven, they might be able to help.
cm60k your response is stupid, he doesn't want a stronger box he wants to have the 7 spd box so rebuilding his 5 spd has nothing to do with what he wants.

It wasn't a compliment because you said it was more trouble than it's worth which is irrelevant in the tuning and customization world especially in cars. Nothing is unfeasible just because it's hard, by that logic car modification is stupid because technically speaking you'll never get the money you spent back, EVER. As another poster said a while back the coilover swap was sorcery but now it's been done and proven. Either contribute or don't post, just don't bring negativity to a good thread about a great idea.

cm60k I have no idea what you just said.
To a 7 spd? Personally I think the 5 spd actually suits the powerband on the 55k but I think it's great because its never been tested so I can't predict the results, positive or negative. Although MB just put a 7 spd on the V12s and the new 5.5 TT has alot of low end torque but still has a 7 spd so it could actually be a very good mod. Forrest Gump 9 wants to find a way to put the 7 spd on, he wasn't coming here looking for an opinion, only input and help.
By the way if it's the 7 spd MCT box then I can definitely see it being a great mod because it's so much faster and much more responsive.

That’s good my friend,
Im always doing a customize things, i know what’s that really means(...),,
i said its not worthy & trouble, cause this mod. needs more $$$$, and more time, with unguaranteed results...!<!>!,
i could be wrong, that’s why we need a specialized person to tell us a "Contrary Correction" about it,,
* sometimes opinions will help to find a solutions....

as i know; MB put 5 speed in all V12s from 2004 till now, and they still use it,,
i didn’t heard about 7 speed in all V12 since 2004.....

A year later.....
The monster torque of the E55 dose not require a gearing advantage and could end up being a slower car with 7 spd. On the other hand the lower torque of the N/A 63 needs the extra gears (Torque multiplier) to keep engine in its power band.
Neither Auto transmissions 722. 5 & 7 spd. hold a candel to the new MCT 7 speed.
