any tips? going to plasti dip
I am going to plasti dip my emblems sometime this week. I have read a few posts that it's pretty straight forward..any tips? I have seen it's better to do 4-5 thicker coats and it makes it easier to peel...
Edit: I have a silver E55 and will be doing black emblems.

I'm pretty curious about the best way to do this as well. Spray the entire area, cut out the emblems and peel the rest off?

I just did this a few days ago. Mask off the area good (I used newspapers/painters tape) to avoid overspray. I did about 5 coats...used a toothpick to remove small areas (twisting the toothpick once it grips the Plasti dip works well).

No need to cut anything, typically. The gap between the emblem and the car are usually enough to allow the pd to stay on the emblem but peel off the fender. Yes thicker peels easier. I just received the anthracite wheel kit and plan on doing the wife's wheels and emblems/trim. I ordered the glossifier to help it shine.

excellent...that's what I saw on the plasti dip website and it looks like you had the same experience.

E55Freak, I just got a box of half a dozen anthracite metallic spray cans and some glossifier too - if you don't have glossifier, feel free to drop by and borrow a can. I'm also interested in doing my badges, lower rear fascia, and possibly my grille and the weatherstripping around the windows... Scheduled (I know that's ridiculous, but) to have a baby on Wednesday though (c-section) so the car stuff is at the bottom of the priority stack.

Tape the area of the emblems off give it about a 1in to 1.5in area with the tape so you have a area to peal off. Also like the guys said above although it comes of easy you get over spray all over and you can feel the texture on the paint if you over spray a bit but it rubs right off. I would make sure to spray in all areas from top to bottom and bottom to top and side to side so you cover all the chrome on the emblems. And tooth pick works great between the letters you cant peal. Also make sure your in a area with good lighting or have a decent light on you to see if you missed any unpainted spots. I did mine almost 2 yrs ago and its still on there solid.

I'm sure I would welcome an opportunity for a break by the time the weekend rolls around Let's stay in touch, did you get flat black or the anthracite? I have more than enough that if you don't like the black you're welcome to some of the anthracite.

I was planning on getting flat back and just using it as is but now you have me thinking of adding the glossifier.

Anybody Plasti Dip emblems on their flint gray?
I am not sure how it'll look on flint, that's the reason I haven't done it yet...the blacked out emblem look is getting played out, too.
