I test drove '14 S8 last week. I was shocked, the car is an absolute beast.
I don't know what it is, the car shouldn't be that quick, but it is. Maybe it's a perfect synergy between the engine and the tranny. Whatever Audi did to the transmission (lightning quick) should be copied by others, especially by Mercedes with their crappy AMG SpeedShift MCT tranny.

Current: Cadillac CTS-V (V2), Chevy Cruze Past: E55k
And that's using Audi's 8 speed automatic as well as opposed to the DSG for torque limitation purposes.

2006 E55 AMG
Yeah, when I was at the Atlanta Auto show this year, hands down my favourite car was the 2014 Audi S8. I The interior is a master piece and it boasts a 0-60 of 3.7 bone stock. That is insane for a big body sedan.

Very much agreed about S8. There is a youtube vid, straight line, S8 vs R8 (with an older V10 engine).
Guess what, S8 came first. Wow.

Btw, very nice run!

If you see this in your rearview mirror at dusk, do not fear.......... it's only me and I'm not dumb enough to run an E55.

Of course u wont mess with us in ur audi, you will just go get ur cls 63 tune it with downpipes and destroy us all haha BTW I love that car

ZF's 8 speed has some crazy tight gearing and shifts pretty quick but I'm also sure the S8s engine is underrated a good bit too... I want one

The HUD is insane compared to the one in my E63 M6 ... the only thing I don't like are the seats. I tried and tried when I ordered the car, but they did not budge on the adjustable side bolsters, which is an option in Europe. The M5 is the only twin turbo I've ever owned (had a 993TT, 996TT and 997.2TT) which hangs on the throttle like a naturally aspirated engine ... throttle response is close to perfection ... I programmed M1 to the most aggressive settings for my daily drives ... I'm sure you did as well!

991's sound very, very nice ... but the 991GT3 at 9000 rpm takes the cake!

Not posting at M5Post ... should I sign up?

BTW, love your R8! Done just like I would
Thanks bro, yes the R8 is definitely the pinnacle of entry level daily driver super cars IMHO (v10). I got my M5 in October; great car but still a heavier pig that can be quite amazing depending on how hard one pushes it in the bends. I program my settings to the most aggressive setup as well on M1- M2 is set for rain driving LOL. I got an M6 too because I loved the 4.4tt engine so much and then I started to notice how the M5 seats lacked true support. I am not of the buffet variety in shape so at times the M5 seats can be too large in high speed g force pushing and pulling turns. The M6 gets the full bolster seats and the car feels faster than the M5. I love my 991 C4S for the purpose it serves; the GT3 will be amazing but the limited allocations and dealer gouging have me thinking otherwise.

Yes and thanks I was talking about the vid showing the new S8 vs the R8 but only in a V8 set up which is much slower than the V10.

The new S8 is a stupid car (in a good way). It performs incredibly for a full size sedan although it doesnt come in the long wheel base.
