I test drove '14 S8 last week. I was shocked, the car is an absolute beast.
I don't know what it is, the car shouldn't be that quick, but it is. Maybe it's a perfect synergy between the engine and the tranny. Whatever Audi did to the transmission (lightning quick) should be copied by others, especially by Mercedes with their crappy AMG SpeedShift MCT tranny.

Yeah, when I was at the Atlanta Auto show this year, hands down my favourite car was the 2014 Audi S8. I The interior is a master piece and it boasts a 0-60 of 3.7 bone stock. That is insane for a big body sedan.

Very much agreed about S8. There is a youtube vid, straight line, S8 vs R8 (with an older V10 engine).

The RS5 was never intended to be a straight line terror or a track day special. I think it's an absolutely fantastic daily driver with just the right amount of luxury, technology, sport and style. You really need to spend some seat time in the car to appreciate what Audi has done.

Got the M5 some time ago. Took European delivery and picked up the car at the BMW Welt. Spent 3 weeks in Europe, drove through Germany, Austria and Italy ... in other words, broke her in properly
... love the car, in my opinion, best daily driver I've ever owned. The HUD is insane compared to the one in my E63 M6 ... the only thing I don't like are the seats. I tried and tried when I ordered the car, but they did not budge on the adjustable side bolsters, which is an option in Europe. The M5 is the only twin turbo I've ever owned (had a 993TT, 996TT and 997.2TT) which hangs on the throttle like a naturally aspirated engine ... throttle response is close to perfection ... I programmed M1 to the most aggressive settings for my daily drives ... I'm sure you did as well!
991's sound very, very nice ... but the 991GT3 at 9000 rpm takes the cake!

This is the S8 vs the V8 R8---- the V10 will fare differently.

Yes and thanks I was talking about the vid showing the new S8 vs the R8 but only in a V8 set up which is much slower than the V10.
The new S8 is a stupid car (in a good way). It performs incredibly for a full size sedan although it doesnt come in the long wheel base.
