on a warm day i was racing my friends e60 m5 i pulled a little off of him but at about 130 he caught up and took me by half a car. then the second run he jumped about 2cars ahead of me. i shouldve waited another minute too cool down so far my car is pretty much stock. i have sharduls s/c pulley and a logic lab tune. so im thinking about upgrading my intercooler pump. im running the bosch 010 pump and a stock heat exchanger. im wondering between the johnson cm30 vs the bosch 010 do you think that would make a bigger difference? the car does pull hard but after running from 30-130 feel like there should be alot more going for it. i also was looking on ebay and i seen this heat exchanger anyone try this one?

I don't think you will see a difference between the CM30 and Bosch 010. To be honest, I think the Bosch is even a better unit.

The Bosch 010, in my opinion, is the best IC pump for these cars. The car runs consistently and the power doesn't fade. The 010 coupled with a large aftermarket HE is a must on these cars and the first step in cooling.

Having said that, going from a CM30 to a Bosch unit isn't going to magically make your car a lot faster. Unless, of course, your CM30 has failed, which can happen.

Have you datalogged any information?

On a related note, is your friend's M5 stock? I owned an E60 M5 and the gearing on those things never ends once up in the triple digits. An E55 can typically handle an M5 until about 110/120, where the M5 might start the pulling and get closer. A capable drive in a stock E60 M5 can run mid-low 12s @116-117mph (I am not a drag racer, and even with my poor skills, I managed a 12.6@115), on par with an otherwise stock E55 so it's not crazy that he started pulling on you that far up top, especially if your pump is dead or on its way out.

That is FTP's exchanger, which I'm using. It's one of the largest and works well, just doesn't really leave any room for the oil cooler underneath afterwards, if you're still running the E55 front bumper.

P.S. It looks like his auction is using a number of member's car pics from here. I wonder if he got permission.....

his car is pretty much stock... he chopped the cats and have the rpi scoops. and my iats are pretty low running about 100 degrees at goes at the most 175 when i do a hard hit. i hard wired my ic pump. so i do know getting a heat exchanger im not going to add hp... it will just let me keep my horse power that i do have a little longer. but if everyone thinks stick with the bosch unit i will. and just go for the ftp exchanger. also im thinking about the kleemann headers in a few weeks and for $995 i think its a steal.
he wont race me from a stop. only from 60-130

I can't STAND people like this. I'm man enough to race from a dig and crush someone, then run from 60 up and get my *** handed to me. Drag racing started at ZERO miles and hour back in the day, and it's how it's done now, which is why all my rides have always been "from a dig" kind of vehicles. I'll still run someone, knowing they have the upper end on me, and I'm fine with it as long as they don't go wailing to their buddies "OMG I CRUSHED THAT GUY!" Just because someone knows their car doesn't make the power down low doesn't give them the right to dictate the rules. Sorry, just ran into wayyyyy too many SRT-4 owners in my town when I had my Lightning that would ONLY roll race from 45 miles an hour, which seems to be the absolute sweetspot for those little skittle *******s.

Sorry for the rant. Get those IAT's DOWN man. Your car already starts pulling timing at 100°, and timing is horsepower. And most definitely do the headers and then a new tune. It's a crazy amount of rwhp when you uncork these motors.

I don't run any cars from a highway roll. First off, there's never enough room/few cars on the road to make it safe, or second, too much traffic. 0-80 or 0-100 is where I love to roam.

Don't tell me you were one of those fools racing from digs at the causeway or gandy. I've seen so many people get themselves arrested there.

We used to roll race on I4 in the middle of Orlando to 130+ when the old Fuel **** meets were popular. Ah the good ole days.
