0-60 time and burnouts?

I'm just wondering what the 0-60 time is for the W210 E55? Is it 4.8 seconds, 5.4 or what?. Does anyone know the 0-62 or 0-100 km'h time? Oh yeah and did the facelifted model affect its performance and has anyone done a burnout in a stock E55? I'm not to thrilled to do one even though I want to (because of the tires). Will winter mode start you off in second gear even if you floor it? Thanks.

Oh yeah, one last thing, wouldn't ESP kick in if you try and do a burnout even with it switched off? I hardly ever drive my car really hard so I need some info. Thanks.

Yes and no.
It is kind of weird, I tried to do a doughnut one day and turned the esp off and kept it on D, ESP kicked in and I almost hit the sidewalk.
Yes if you put if on first you can do doughnuts, you have seen my video, right? Burning tires Video

But on a cold day if I turn ESP off and keep it on D I can smoke all thru first gear on a straight line with out ESP kicking on.

MB says 5.4, but most mags got around 5 secs even. Motor Trend tested the the '99 E55 and got 4.8 secs, later they tested an '02 (face lifted) E55 and got 4.99 secs. My best time, using a G-Tech, was 4.9 secs, and that was with a moderate burnout. (Car is completely stock.)

For 0-62mph/0-100kmh, MB says 5.7 secs. But again, many Euro mags tested it at around 5.3 secs. The reality seems that the W210 E55 is really .4 secs faster than MB's conservative claim.

Personal best of 4.8 on G-Tech after ECU upgrade. Mostly 4.9 because traction is the problem with or without ESP. 5.0-1 before upgrade and little problem with traction.

Even when off, ESP or ASR will kick back in when the front wheels are not pointed straight during a burnout. My experience anyway.

Try it sometime.

Whoa, what ECU upgrade was this? I had to work really hard to get 4.9 secs, even 5.0 takes a perfect launch. But I can usually get 5.1-5.3 secs without even trying.

PowerChip added about 20 peak HP but the midrange HP curve is much fatter. Tirespin from any speed in 1st gear is now a problem Perfect launches are almost impossible now!

burning rubber

Guys, I've noticed the same on my '03 C32. I think the reason is that you *can* completely turn off "traction control" which I define as stopping tires from spinning in a straight line...nothing to do with yaw sensors. You *can't* completely turn off stability control, which senses yaw rates (eg are you sliding sideways or about to) and steering wheel inputs and selectively brakes one or more wheels. So, I can do a straight line burnout and smoke the tires indefinitely in a straight line, but can't do donuts becuase the indefeatable stability control kicks in.

thats got to be a E55 in that video.

As for the 430 i have the EPS brakes each rear wheel to help the car go straight. If you turn it off it will still work unless you go wide open or "Get Rough" with it. the systems are set up to keep us out of trouble, but if you push it hard enough you can over ride it. We were out one night and got real crazy in my car. After the figure eights and doughnuts and full lock power slides it tripped ever damn light on the car. I had to take into MB and get them turned off and reset. They guy behind the counter goes some one was having a lot of fun

Our with it "OFF" will still clamp the spinning wheel. unless you gas it enough to spinn both at the same time then it will continue to spinn like in the video. Also that car in the videos limited slis is working real well, notice how it is spinning both tires the hole time.

I hate you 55 owners J/K

It's a shame they don't. AMG has a factory installed LSD option but it is not available in the USA as are several other interesting items. Hard to believe they can continue to supply more power without LSD. Maybe it is a safety/liability issue. I know it requires more skill and awareness to drive a car to it's limits with so much power and LSD.
