I've been thinking that just removing the stock filter should not cause any issues at all. - As long as you install one inline. Anyone done this already? I'm thinking at least 3 of you have.

Need help. Narrowed down my issue to one of the two fuel pumps is dead. I have issues with the car accelerating past 3k RPM. I tested and one of the stock fuel pumps is dead.

My question is can I replace with an aeromotive that you guys have been speaking about and leave the other stock? Or should I change both?? Also what's the best way of removing the fuel pumps from passanger side of the fuel tank??

Need some tips and tricks I want to get this resolved and get the car back on the road.

Unless you're trying to build a 9 second race car, just get a new fuel pump assembly from Mercedes. They're way more reliable than anything you're going to get in the aftermarket and flow plenty of fuel when new for all but the craziest of setups.

Ok I will just the whole assembly for the dealer. I was told of a online Mercedes certified parts dealer that might have cheaper prices on parts??

Also if there is a DIY post about how to remove and replace the fuel pump assembly that would be great if someone can direct me to it. Looks like I have to remove the lines on the driver side and than I am able to pull the assemblies out of the passenger side one by one? Just want to make sure I don't bend or break any of the lines and cause more issues.

is your stock parts leaking or broken? Mercedes will now replace all of it for free under extended warranty.

Nothing is leaking i just have a dead fuel pump. The car is really pissed off and doesn't want to run. I don't think Mercedes will reace anything is it isn't leaking but I guess I can try. I was just getting to replace the dead fuel pump and I was looking for a little instruction on how to remove the fuel pump assemblies without breaking anything else. Has anyone removed the fuel pump assemblies?

For MBUSA to replace they need the pumps/sender to be leaking.

I know a few ppl that went simply because they thought they could and after the dealership checking everything nothing and got charged a diagnostic fee

That's what I thought. My situation is that the car has a fuel pump that isn't working. I am thinking about replacing the whole assembly on the passenger side and just be done with it and or just buying just the oem fuel pump and replacing it. I just need some instructions/direction on how to get everything thing out of the car without breaking anything. I have done a couple searches and haven't found a DIY or anything. Also is there a fuel filter or fuel pump in the driver side assembly as well??

You will not be able to remove the pump from the bucket without breaking things. There is a plastic, three-armed pump holder that is sonic welded into place on top of the pump after it is installed in the bucket.

Both pumps are on the passenger side, fuel filter is on the driver side

Ok thank you sir. So to replace the pump that has failed I will need to remove the whole fuel tank from the car and than buy the complete fuel bucket assembly and replace the whole thing??? I am assuming there isn't a way to just remove and replace the one failed pump and be done with it. If I am doing that I should just replace the driver side assembly with the filter as well correct??

Mullet how did you and a few guys change to the AEM or aeromotive pumps without breaking the basket?

You don't have to pull the fuel tank, you can access the buckets under the back seat cushion. Pull the access plate, disconnect the connector, unscrew the giant ring, pull the fuel hat. Then disconnect the connectors on the bottom of the hat and move it out of the way. Bring the first bucket to the access hole, there's a clip that holds the two buckets together.. unclip that. Disconnect the fuel transfer line from the pump itself, lift the first bucket out. Do the same to the second bucket and don't forget to be mindful of the sender float

The three-arm piece that's sonic welded in place can be broken carefully, then glued or plastic welded back into place. It holds the pump upright so you want to retain it. I have pics floating around, I'll try and get them in here

Eric, why did you have to break the black three prong piece? I replaced many pumps in my setup without breaking anything, just curious brotha.

The flange within the center of the three-arm piece would not allow me to remove the pumps. I was able to remove just one section of the flange and get the first pump out but then the Aeromotive wouldn't fit down there with the filter attached. Instead I cut the arms, lifted the whole piece out, then fitted it back over the new pump/filter and glued it in place.

But a replacement Oem pump would fit without issues, correct?

With some struggling you may be able to pull the pump but I can't say you will be able to change out the filter or provide a healthy seat of the filter to the bottom of the pump without doing these outside of the bucket

Mullet and everyone thank you for the help and guidence. I going to get the buckets out of the car and check everything out. My final question, would anyone have the part number for just the fuel pump and the fuel pump filter/filter sock??? I want to replace both pumps as well as the filters.

Bump. Anyone have some info? Looking for the MB part numbers for the fuel pumps and the filters that attach to the pumps on the passenger side of the fuel tank.

Guys,
Need help asap figuring out what part number I need for my 2004 E55 AMG. In the passenger side of the fuel tank you have the sending unit with the two pumps and two buckets connected together with the lines feeding to the passenger side. I need the Full assembly with the pumps, filters and level unit for the passenger side of the fuel tank. Mercedes parts guys are giving me all these different part numbers and I am so confused.

Vehicle is a 03/2004 Mercedes E55 AMG Vin Number WDBUF76J74A548469.

I am thinking it is part number 2114701794 is correct. Attached photo is that part number and looks exactly what I took out of the car. From what I am seeing the part number 2114701794 is a revision number. The current part number is 2114700000. I got the info from ECS tuning. My question is which part number can I give the dealer to order the correct one. I don't want to get this messed up and the dealer parts guy is making this a lot harder than is actually is.

I am having a lean issue and after trying several new tunes that didn't fix it, I went back to an old setup/tune that used to run rich. It was still leaning out. The only thing I have not done is replace the pump assembly on passenger side. Drivers side unit (filter?) was replaced about 20k miles back due to the fuel smell. Since my pumps are not leaking, I don't think I can get them replaced under recall, so I am going to do it myself.

Well, I was just going to do the two pumps, but apparently there are two different types. The ones I picked up will require a different harness. Take a gander. I'm wearing blue gloves because I also do prostate exams in my garage








On top of that problem, there was this:
