Split cooling procedures/instructions...trunk tank necessary?
What difference did you see your IATs and how does the car drive after the split?
I would think the car's IATs would drop significantly after the split.
Also, how necessary is a trunk tank for an otherwise street car with only a few basic upgrades?
THANK YOU ALL FOR ANY FEEDBACK!

Cliff Notes for your lazy a$$
(1) Not hard to do if you can remove and install coolant hoses
(2) Depending on the size of the reservoir you will see IATs of ~15 degrees above ambient when cruising and the biggest improvement will be seen on recovery. Your peak IATs will vary depending on the ambient temperature, your mods, size of reservoir, and amount of boost you are running. That said, my peak IATs are about 30* lower than pre-split and I am using a Ford Cobra reservoir (~ 1 qt.).
(3) A trunk tank is great, especially if you have a killer chiller, but probably not necessary unless you really want to do back to back high speed runs, have your car fully modded, and/or are just looking for every option to get the most out of your car....
Just call them about what you are interested in and they will direct you to the right solution....

I love the trunk tank but, Im not convinced that its makes a substantial difference from a engine bay mounted tank.
....The kits that FTP assembled were not up to my standards....
Donnie at http://dadscustomintercoolertank.com/ makes some really nice stuff.
Regarding pumps, you can run just the Bosch 010 (factory pump) - single pump. If you wanted to flow more (X gals / hr), then you could get a bigger pump, but I actually think that would be worse for the heat transfer using the stock intercooler (guess).

Why? When the engine coolant pressurized it will blow through the bleed line then out the BMW reservoir vent. Coolant will be everywhere.
Cap the bleed line and all will be well.
I've gotten myself one of those EC heat exchangers. First off has anyone had any issues running these inline with the stock on the 010 pump? Search function shows a lot of disagreement.
Secondly the local performance shop I'm getting to install and split the cooling is thinking about fabbing up a res tank to go in the space above the HE in front of the radiator (around where the air intakes are) is there a reason people haven't used this area for a tank? Seems like a good idea to me out of the way of the engine bay heat..

No issues but the above video is a waste no need cutting anything
and is different from the E 55/63 this is how I did it and never had any issues.
Bought another tank tough
only need these parts and removed Fan shroud first save yourself some cutting and remove the stock clamps (buy a clamp remover)
Where it says cap just remove the clamps nd plug the T then attach the reducer and hose and run up to your tank
Third and last picture is for trunk tank. I never do what he did on the video, not sure what the purpose but is different in the W211 that's for sure but it seems not many realize it no idea why

Personally I wouldn't block my radiator.
