Radiator hose popped out !!
I cant believe they have such a critical component so poorly designed.
Was driving home and all of a sudden my display says car is too hot and to pull over. Was right by a friends house and babied it over there not thinking it could be something quite this bad. Pop the intake hose off and look down to see the radiator hose was completely off the radiator
After looking it over carefully I could see they just have a clip holding it on. Stuck hose back on, pushed clip in hard , put some water in and was on my way. 2 days and hasnt lost a drop.
Not sure if it somehow got loosened by someone or if it could really do this from factory. Got up to like 200... hope it didnt hurt anything.

The radiator hose should not pop off unless you're pushing compression into your cooling system. You should do a comp/leakdown test pronto just to be sure.

Yes, the hose design is damn nice and uses a rubber o ring and strong clip. Even with a blown head gasket pushing pressure in them, they dont blow off. You may blow the seams out of the radiator but the hoses still hold. Maybe a service tech did not get the clip all the way.

Thank you guys. Whats best way to bleed it ? I just ran with cap off a bit and added water. Next morn added more water. Clip seems solid after two days of driving.

Mann55le, has a good point, oil change is recommended as well as a look at the trans fluid. When you lost the coolant the temp gauge will not read hot air but only works in hot coolant so chances are you were hotter than 200, as the engine will run hotter than 212 during normal driving but will not boil as it is under pressure. You must have added water to the engine when it was running or you could have cracked something.

Thanks, I actually did change the oil a couple days afterwards. When I added water it was from a garden hose in the sun so the water was pretty darn hot. Car seems to be ok. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Did you have any work done to it lately ?somebody could have leaned on that hose, only time I ever saw one come off that wasn't disturbed was one on an aftermarket radiator, those hoses should never blow off period.
