WTF! CLS is not a coupe!
Mercedes has been saying this new platform, Vision CLS, was to be a B-pillerless design I thought. I thought the idea behind the CLS was to compete with the new BMW 6-Series Coupe. Mercedes has created a car that may not have a market. I was so looking forward to a mid-size B-pillerless Coupe. This idea of a 4 door coupe is stupid. The CLS is a sedan, plain and simple.

I love the design. Mercedes has always said that it was a four door coupe, although they did mention a B-pillarless design. I wonder why the concept has a B pillar. I will definitely put a deposit down for a CLS 63 AMG as soon my dealer opens up a waiting list.By the way, MB does not have to worry about competing against the 6 series. That car is so ugly it would be a disgrace for a car company to waste it's time building a competing model. The 6 series is definitely in a class of it's own.

Does not look like a Mercedes especially from the side and the styling is somewhat "Banglelish". What's with the BMW M3 looking wheels. HATED IT!

I will have to see it in person. I would say something is wrong with the sid eview of the car. The interior shows as if the car is turned a bit but it looks like a full side view. Also in that picture the wheels look way too big.... Photochop?
The other images look much better. Will have to wait and see what the AMG looks like. With Quad exhaust on that back end and a Kompressor it could be a monster.
I would assume that since it is on the E platform it will have room for the Kompressor.
I would agree that it was always slated as a 4 door. I also heard a while back that it will have a B pillar but it would be somewhat hidden. The abandoned the suicide doors a while ago based on structural issues I think I read somewhere...

Man that thing looks like its ready for production. The interior is not a show car interior but a bonafide production interior. It even has the ashtrays in the rear doors!

I kind of like it, it's like with new 6th serie - something is missing. ![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
IMO, it might get the missing pieces in Affalterbach.

I kinda like it - still like the headlights on the current E series better but the profile reminds me a bit of my Chrysler 300M, which I like a lot!!

MB is really doing a marketing number.
Early pics had it labeled as a CLE with quad lamps and now it has lamps like the S-class...moving it more upscale and justifying a more upscale price (there was 70K mentioned somewhere...I guess for the 5 liter engine). The car looks real good but I wonder how much of a premium is the roof styling worth. I would pick this cls55 over an e55.

I hope they refine the production version a bit. I was really looking forward to this car, but something just is not right with the styling. As others have stated, it looks like an MB with touches of Lexus, Chrysler, and BMW throne into the mix. The roof line reminds of the W208 CLK (which is a good thing), but the rest of it seems too bloated. I do love the interior, has a kind of Bentley look to it - maybe it's the pattern used on the seats.
It's interesting that they changed the name from CLE to CLS, because I believe it is still based on the E-class chassis. The only thing it has from the S are the head lights, and the CL is suppose to be the S-class coupe, so why CLS? The car was suppose to be a 4-door "coupe". The Mazda RX-8 pulled that trick off, but the CLS looks just like a "sedan" to me. I think MB may have missed the mark on this one.
