Car serviced today--details

Got my '03 E55 serviced today, so I thought I'd share the results.

Squeak/chirp when accelerating hard from stop or slow speed: tech was aware of problem & said it exists on all new supercharged V8s--Mercedes aware of issue and "working on a repair."

All 4 windows leave half an inch or so exposed when all the way down: all the other W211s they tested are like this as well--no adjustment possible.

Brakes squeaked alot: applied anti-squeak to pads

Keyless go chime and warning message when opening drivers door: factory setting that can't be changed.

Radio presets can't be advanced by steering wheel buttons: feature not available on E class (although is on S class).

Rear drivers side wheel replaced: damaged by car wash , and they paid for a new one .

Got the oil/filter changed & lube: only 4,000 miles, but I always get the first change alot earlier than recommended (to get all the break-in gunk out). $97 with tax--a pleasant surprise after paying $250 for my Carrera 6 months ago.

Free Mercedes loaner (even though I bought the car at another dealer).

Passed on complementary car wash--my experience is this is a great way to get your paint scratched...

That seems like pretty good service imo...

I really doubt that Mercedes would scratch your car with there car wash...

03 CLK500, 04 X3, No 07 GT3RS :(
I took my CLK in for the first service a couple weeks ago and one of the service techs or parking guys stole $10 out of the car that I'd forgotten to remove. Looks like you fared better than I did!

I can confirm the squeak/chirp with the 5496cc Supercharged engines. I recently had my uncle's new S55 for a week and its very noticeable/annoying. It almost sounds like a blowoff valve. Very weird.

About car washing/car washes, I NEVER let anybody but myself wash the car. Good call about passing on the free wash, i've heard some horror stories.

I thought maintance was free in the US, did they make you pay because the oil change was "out of cycle"?

Can't advance the radio presets with the steering wheel controls?

What's up with that? That's ridiculous.

Previous models have had this capacity.

Heck, most $20,000 cars have this capacity.

Will this change on '04's???????
