Smile Purchased used E63

Hello All!
I am new to the world of MB's. I saw a 2007 E63 with 39500 miles and decided my search for a clean low mileage beast was over. I am hoping to learn lots from the forum (I have been lurking). If you have any advice for a new E63 owner please feel free to chime in.
I do not have an extended warranty (not sure which one to get or for how long or if I should chance it: I live next to a good Indy shop). I purchased the car from an AutoBroker, car came from an out of state auction. 1 owner and carfax has services being done every ~7500 miles at MBZ dealer for the whole life of the car. Missing floor mats, NAV dvd, owners manual. So far I found all the manuals in PDF format. Not sure if I should get OEM floor mats or aftermarket. Whats the deal with NAV dvds?
I am also curious how I'd find out how many Jade Green E63s were made? They don't seem very common. Thanks for any tips!

Previous cars:

2010 Jeep Wrangler
2011 WRX sedan
2006 911 C4 (997)
2011 Mini Cooper S

Congrats and Welcome. Enjoy in good health.

Nav Dvd is that you just insert a DVD in the trunk and you'd get maps displayed on the screen, I have an aftermarket unit so I don't know

much about the stock unit.

Dealer for nav dvd or ebay, or make your way to an auction and do as someone did to your car steal all the manual and dvd's happens to 90% of the cars at the sale i deal with it everyday my customers always want those items after car is sold and they are expensive eats the profit... nav dvd can come out of any benz the same year as yours

Thanks for the information. I figured since it was an auction car some of the items would be "missing".

Welcome and congrats!

Unfortunately the OEM AMG floor mats are super expensive... like in the $400+ range for a set... shame somebody nicked them!

Looks great, congrats... That is the first jade green one i have seen, The usual black silver and white are the bulk of he ones i have seen. If you got all the paperwork, is the previous owners name on there ? Maybe you can find a way of contacting them and see if they have the dvd and mats, there probably sitting in a corner of a garage someplace just taking up space....
I just did a refi on my car so i could get an extended warranty, is was cheap... so cheap i even questioned the loan officer to make sure she had the correct car, and she said she did.. covers all powertrain suspension and electronics... (what else is there right?) $0.00 deductable But you may want to check your local credit unions to see what they offer... that may be the best deal going....

Congratulations and Enjoy your purchase. Couple of tips/items you need to cognizant of:

1) Transmission Oil service - It is VERY important to have this service done at 40k. If you can't find this service done in VMI - get this done ASAP.
2) I would also recommend refreshing the coolant, power steering, and brake fluid around 40k (I get surprised by how dirty/worn fluids get after 40k use)

Maintenance is the KEY to long and healthy life of this car.

congrats and welcome! i have the same car, but i came from a 2 year AMG background previously. that's very low mileage, and i have never seen the E63 in that color ( i know it comes on the E55) so very good find.
personally, i was in the same boat and bought mine without warranty. knock on wood, i've had no major issues with anything even with my subtle mods and rallies i've done with it. but, you are at under 50k miles so you can purchase an aftermarket warranty. take advantage of that if you plan on daily driving and not modding your car.

Thanks for the information and tips! Keep em coming.
Car went back to the dealer to get work done per due bill. Had an intermittent ESP light issue and check engine light due to some sensor Dealer said to take it home anyways when I purchased it, make a list of things I noticed wrong and they'd take care of it. I am rolling in a sweet 2012 Honda Accord Oh well, it'll make the E63 feel that much nicer when I get it back. They are going to try and locate a DVD disc for me so we'll see! Regarding floor mats I ordered some weather techs (they'll come in handy in the PNW region). I was looking and apparently a first aid kit comes in the passenger seat cubby. Anyone know the part number? I was thinking of getting one off ebay.

From the history via carfax I don't see the transmission being done and I do not have a VMI. So I will most likely be looking to get the transmission service. I do see the car was in a MBZ dealer for service regularly:

Recommended maintenance performed/Body computer/module checked on 05/23/2007 1,661 miles

Recommended maintenance performed/Washed/detailed 01/16/2008 5,393 miles

Recommended maintenance performed/Washed/detailed/Oil and filter changed 05/23/2008 7,675 miles

Tires replaced/Spare tire installed 11/26/2008 10,689 miles

Engine checked/Washed/detailed/Three tires mounted and balanced/Oil and filter changed/Alignment checked/Steering/suspension checked 03/30/2009 12,960 miles

Recommended maintenance performed/A/C and heating temperature control checked/A/C and heating system checked 09/30/2009 15,699 miles

Maintenance inspection completed/Recommended maintenance performed 05/03/2010 19,553 miles

Maintenance inspection completed/Recommended maintenance performed/Front wiper blades/refills replaced/Air filter replaced/Washed/detailed/Four wheel alignment performed/Body electrical system checked 04/07/2011 24,966 miles

Vehicle serviced 07/31/2012 33,644 miles

Body electrical system checked 10/31/2012 35,952 miles

Oil and filter changed/Body electrical system checked/Engine/powertrain computer/module checked 03/07/2013 39,255 miles.

The car said next service due was the G service in 9500 miles.

Congrats on your car!

Buy the factory mats. Sure, they are expensive...but if you didn't prepare for expensive, then you probably should not have bought a used Mercedes AMG! LOL!

The factory mats fit better, snap into those locations on the floor that hold them in place, and are made of higher quality materials that last a heck of a lot longer than the cheap mats. After over 93,000 miles on my E63, the mats still look new, and not overly warn. In short, one set of slightly costly OEM mats are cheaper than the 4 sets of aftermarket ones you would probably have to buy to last as long as the 1 set of OEM ones. Plus, the OEM ones have 'AMG' embroidered in them...which is cool.

Cool

New pics! Also I had a check engine light go off with the code P0071. The ambient temp also was all over going 114*f-145*f. Looked and found the sensor loose in the bumper. Put it back in place and temp reads just fine but check engine light is on, couldn't clear it with my code reader. Any advice?

I got the transmission service done at my local indy shop. They also were servicing a E55 & SL55, looks like it was the right shop to be at

Thanks! Since 2005 I knew one day I'd have an AMG. Since then I have looked into them on and off. I had never seen a Jade Green one either, it is a very unique color.

Hahaha. You're not the first and probably not the last to give me that comment on the color combo. Trust me, I know most people will be like but to me it makes it even more exclusive. All I saw were black on black ones. I wanted a light interior and a colored exterior. It's just fine for me.

The ESP light was a steering angle sensor (they fixed and replaced it). Check engine light was from a ambient temp sensor that was out of place (fixed that myself). The place I got it from said they'd fix anything wrong with it (I based that into the sale-with a due bill) and they have thus far. I understand I could have done more. So far though everything checks out and no major issues.

Good to hear you cleared all the bugs out. You passed me on the express lanes today, that green is a very nice color in person. But the brown... If you had black interior id be all over it. Either way, nice buy sir.
