Purchased used E63
I am new to the world of MB's. I saw a 2007 E63 with 39500 miles and decided my search for a clean low mileage beast was over. I am hoping to learn lots from the forum (I have been lurking). If you have any advice for a new E63 owner please feel free to chime in.
I do not have an extended warranty (not sure which one to get or for how long or if I should chance it: I live next to a good Indy shop). I purchased the car from an AutoBroker, car came from an out of state auction. 1 owner and carfax has services being done every ~7500 miles at MBZ dealer for the whole life of the car. Missing floor mats, NAV dvd, owners manual. So far I found all the manuals in PDF format. Not sure if I should get OEM floor mats or aftermarket. Whats the deal with NAV dvds?
I am also curious how I'd find out how many Jade Green E63s were made? They don't seem very common. Thanks for any tips!

Previous cars:
2010 Jeep Wrangler
2011 WRX sedan
2006 911 C4 (997)
2011 Mini Cooper S
Nav Dvd is that you just insert a DVD in the trunk and you'd get maps displayed on the screen, I have an aftermarket unit so I don't know
much about the stock unit.
I just did a refi on my car so i could get an extended warranty, is was cheap... so cheap i even questioned the loan officer to make sure she had the correct car, and she said she did.. covers all powertrain suspension and electronics... (what else is there right?) $0.00 deductable But you may want to check your local credit unions to see what they offer... that may be the best deal going....

1) Transmission Oil service - It is VERY important to have this service done at 40k. If you can't find this service done in VMI - get this done ASAP.
2) I would also recommend refreshing the coolant, power steering, and brake fluid around 40k (I get surprised by how dirty/worn fluids get after 40k use)
Maintenance is the KEY to long and healthy life of this car.

personally, i was in the same boat and bought mine without warranty. knock on wood, i've had no major issues with anything even with my subtle mods and rallies i've done with it. but, you are at under 50k miles so you can purchase an aftermarket warranty. take advantage of that if you plan on daily driving and not modding your car.

Car went back to the dealer to get work done per due bill. Had an intermittent ESP light issue and check engine light due to some sensor
Dealer said to take it home anyways when I purchased it, make a list of things I noticed wrong and they'd take care of it. I am rolling in a sweet 2012 Honda Accord
Oh well, it'll make the E63 feel that much nicer when I get it back. They are going to try and locate a DVD disc for me so we'll see! Regarding floor mats I ordered some weather techs (they'll come in handy in the PNW region). I was looking and apparently a first aid kit comes in the passenger seat cubby. Anyone know the part number? I was thinking of getting one off ebay. From the history via carfax I don't see the transmission being done and I do not have a VMI. So I will most likely be looking to get the transmission service. I do see the car was in a MBZ dealer for service regularly:

The car said next service due was the G service in 9500 miles.

Buy the factory mats. Sure, they are expensive...but if you didn't prepare for expensive, then you probably should not have bought a used Mercedes AMG! LOL!

The factory mats fit better, snap into those locations on the floor that hold them in place, and are made of higher quality materials that last a heck of a lot longer than the cheap mats. After over 93,000 miles on my E63, the mats still look new, and not overly warn. In short, one set of slightly costly OEM mats are cheaper than the 4 sets of aftermarket ones you would probably have to buy to last as long as the 1 set of OEM ones. Plus, the OEM ones have 'AMG' embroidered in them...which is cool.
but to me it makes it even more exclusive. All I saw were black on black ones. I wanted a light interior and a colored exterior. It's just fine for me.The ESP light was a steering angle sensor (they fixed and replaced it). Check engine light was from a ambient temp sensor that was out of place (fixed that myself). The place I got it from said they'd fix anything wrong with it (I based that into the sale-with a due bill) and they have thus far. I understand I could have done more. So far though everything checks out and no major issues.

.... but be warned.... the mod bug will strike soon enough
