With a 175mm lower pulley and a 77mm upper, I have seen 180 degrees IAT on a 3rd gear run, and that was with 64 degree ambient, split cooling, larger heat exchanger, and a Meziere pump (before meth install).
You could keep your existing HE with the KC which is the route I'll be taking. You would plumb the coolant to go through the HE first then KC, this way if for some reason the AC compressor is not working you still would have your HE as a back up and when both KC & HE are working together. You'll have a super ideal IAT temps!

The hp drain is not the issue, the compressor is not meant to spin/accelerate at the rate that your engine does at WOT. The shutting off during WOT is really just protecting the compressor and they figure people are not in WOT long enough to notice the difference in cabin.

I'm running water injection (no meth, since I'm also on E85 and it would be useless). At an ambient temp of 70, my IAT is typically 85-90. During a WOT pull (say 40-130) my IATs will hit 95 immediately and then flat line with the water injection. As soon as I let off and the water stops, it spikes to 120 then falls back down. This compared to 150-160 IATs at the end of a similar pull without water. The advantage I see with adding the KC to the mix is an even better initial IAT and fast recovery from that 120 spike afterward. Water injection and KC would work great together for daily street shenanigans.

Hahaha. I got beat by my buddy's GTR a month or so ago and got pissed off so I started ordering parts. I'll try to get more vids on the 18th... it's likely our last outing of the season since it's getting damn cold here.

Don't you want to race when it's colder out? That's when records are set, no?

40-50* is best racing weather, if it gets too cold then you get little traction with these beasts lol

God that makes me want to do this mod. With my 180mm lower I consistently cruise at 20-22° above ambient. I so much as look at the gas pedal and it starts rising... QUICKLY. Already have the bigger HE/Pump combo.

One question. Do you have the kit that bypasses the stock A/C? I know on the earlier units for the Lightning you had to turn your A/C on in the cab to get the refrigerant to circulate in the Killer Chiller.

NICE SETUP man.

I just swapped my new 010 for a Mez and my IATs are a lot better now. I have a 010 with about 500 miles on it though it anyone wants to buy it for a good price.

Wonder if having the KC has any thing to do with it?

Slow enough flow would matter if you have a heat exchanger so it can cool the water down enough. I no longer have a HE.

I cruised up that same hill in video yesterday and left it in driver instead of 2nd. Ambient was 75. My IATs were 60-65 going up that hill. Driving spirited it would go up to 75 and with a couple short WOT runs it hit 80

Cant beat this for daily driving IMO.

Which version of the Killer Chiller is the one to use in our cars? The one for the Lightening, GT500, or Terminator mustangs?

Also, I read on some of the Cobra/SVT forums of people keeping their heat exchangers but setting up bypasses so in summer months they don't gain heat by running the chille water through the HE in 90+ ambient temps. Has anyone done that with our cars? Even if it was just a couple of T handle valves they would only need to be opened or closed a few times a year.

Also, what kind of cheddar did you guys lay out for the project including professional instal?

One unique I ran into this December with deleting the HE is we had nights that dipped into the low 20s ambient with the KC on the car IAT ran up 70-80 above ambient. Very strange symptom as typically on 60+ degree ambient day they'd run 10-20 above ambient.. I'm guessing this is a mb refrigerant issue as I'm sure our system is not designed to run the AC in under freezing temps... Just an observations where having a HE for winter months could be beneficial.

Turn on the defroster in your car in lower temps to run the A/C compressor.

Just speak with Joe the owner of Kincaid who makes the KC he will send you everything you need to get it hooked up.

I run with no HE at all times as it never really get too cold for long in Alabama. Just KC trunk tank and meth.
