Pushing the Killer Chiller Videos and my review of it.
I have had this setup for a few months now and really love it. I have been meaning to do some videos and a writeup for a while since there are zero videos out there other than videos watching a car idle or cruise around town. Usually just showing water temps. Not very helpful.
I recently added a Meziere pump and it now runs better with faster recovery overall. I am running with a split system and a 2.5 gallon engine bay tank that fits over by the cabin filter. I am considering going to a 5 gal trunk tank to see if it performs better. 5 gal of 41 degree water has to help on the bigger pulls. I wish I could figure out a way to even add another gal under the hood without going to trunk tank. Fantastic setup overall for daily driving.
Yesterday it was 92 degrees out and I was cruising around with a 49 degree IAT at one point. Usually in the mid 50s to low 60s if just cruising around. Same in stop and go traffic. Pretty sweet.
First video is driving up a 1500 foot mountain that takes about 5 minutes to run up. Needless to say it will really test anybody's cooling system to the max in terms of real world driving. Gives a really good idea of what the recovery times are like in the worst conditions. Vid may not show it but this is pretty steep uphill. I dropped it into 2nd gear and kept it there since I was video taping with one hand driving with the other. It had a slower recovery at the end than it usually does. May be due to how much I beat on it not sure
Next up is a quick 45 to 100 MPH WOT burst on flat ground.
And here is me merging onto freeway punching it around 30 MPH well into triple digits. Probably close to 120ish. Keep in mind it is 92 degrees out.

Good vids. I think I will take your advise and add a trunk tank to my KC and meth setup.

Thanks. You might consider the 2.5 gal underhood tank as well. Lot easier to install and dont need to fill up your trunk with water. If I had meth I wouldnt be considering a trunk tank over what I have now. Works great really.

I believe it was around $650 plus I paid around $200-300 to have someone install it. Under 1K total for this mod installed is pretty amazing IMO.
The pic was random pic I found online. Says Pearlpower on the pic lol

I don't get why there arent more videos of actual iats. System works very well. I want to do a run with I ce to see if a larger tank might help. If that doesn't do it I think meth would be next.

Nice work dllhg! Recovery time is very fast.
What does the butt dyno tell you after installation of the KC @ WOT?

thank you. Whenever I punch it it feels like a nice cold day before car gets hot. It never feels flat like they get when heatsoaked

Nice set up!!! I'm looking to do this on my car with a 4 gallon trunk tank. I think this set up is much more effective than replacing my heat exchanger to one that is 10x bigger even if that was possible.
I love that your IAT is way lower than your ambient temp which you could never achieve that with just the upgraded HE.
Does Kincaid have a Mercedes specific kit or did they have to custom build one for you?

I am pretty sure its a specific kit for our cars. Dont even use a HE with this kind of setup

How much boost are you running?
KC looks pretty neat, but it is those long pulls with high boost that has temps rocketing skyward with a quickness. A better intercooler or meth/water is really the only way we have to fight that for now. With a 175mm lower pulley and a 77mm upper, I have seen 180 degrees IAT on a 3rd gear run, and that was with 64 degree ambient, split cooling, larger heat exchanger, and a Meziere pump (before meth install).

From what I've read from others' experiences, the KC is good for cruising temps, a few short blasts, with a very lightly modded car etc. I am running ~11lbs peak and with the HE, Bosch pump, and -10C STAR, my temps are around ambient cruising around town; a split cooling circuit and wiring the pump for constantly running should be last couple steps with my current setup. I am hoping I won't have to go to a trunk tank as I honestly don't want to, at least for my purposes (DD and I don't drag race or race at all, just spirited runs here and there when I have the room/no traffic).
I honestly don't know how the big pulley guys do it with the summer heat and humidity and especially if they drive their car hard back to back and race the car. A large trunk tank and Meth is basically MANDATORY to truly bring those IATs down and to have a fast car.

Well I am running a 185 mm pulley so there is lots of boost and lots of heat being produced. My car is not lightly modified. Yesterday I did a quick WOT blast from 50-90 and IATs went from 55 to 68 degrees with ambient temps of 80-90 degrees.. Hard to beat that ! Also if you look at that first video beating on the car going uphill it would have had any regular IC setup temps skyrocketing and mine barely went over ambient. What this means is it works incredibly well for daily driving. Still trying to see if there is a way to keep temps as low on those long 1/4 mile pulls. I feel the IC itself is probably the real issue. To small and restrictive. Without going to meth I dont see how any IC setup will do nearly as well. Imagine a 5 gallon tank of 41 degree water on a 100 degree day. You are not ging to run through all 5 gal in that run. Best HE you can get and you will be running 100+ degree water from the start. I think I need more water in my setup. 2.5 gal probably isnt enough for those longer pulls.

Yea, I hear you and sounds like Denroll was heading that direction as well. The KC is EXCELLENT in daily driving and cruising times with occasional WOT runs here and there.
But when you're talking drag racing, long pulls multiple gear pulls, multiple back to back runs, the KC simply doesn't cut it. You bigger guys are simply producing A TON of heat with those pulleys, and without a trunk tank and meth, I don't see the temps staying in check.
The KC sounds awesome for a DD car, though. I never race and do long pulls, so for me, it would be probably be the best thing, maybe after I split the cooling and see if the KC is necessary for my purposes.
OP - Do you race the car often?
