Cooling is still an issue. If someone plans on just bolting the kit on and going I wish you luck. Hopefully there will be modifications made to remedy the issues. Car could make alot more power

Just wondering what the bottle neck is for this 55 series motors to hit 600whp? is it the heads or the blower? The 5.4L fords hit those numbers easily on a pulley/tune and do 700/800whp with the big KB/Whipple blowers.

COOLING!!! With bolt-ons I hit 576 on a dyno dynamics machine over 3 years ago. I check in two weeks ago for the first time in a couple of years and sadly it still hasn't been properly addressed.

I understand and agree but after this amount of time a descent i/c should be available...especially with the design already in plain sight (SLR).

I fully agree to this post. A much better intercooler could potentially completely solve the heat issues

EvoSport spent about 18 months on MBWorld hyping a solution.... Then they released the final product with an ugly cobbled-together intake and slapped an $8000 price tag on it.

Sold like hotcakes!

I think Speeddriven might have been working on something too but I don't recall seeing a final product.

You can make the stock core function way better with some work but you need a rear tank to make the most of it

Let me know what to do with the i/c. I was the first to use a trunk tank back in the day so you know that's a given in my set-up. Some may remember that I even mounted a second heat exchanger under the rear bumper only to confirm that the i/c is what was truly holding us back.

Cut the side/end tanks off the intercooler and remove the little chamber walls in there and weld the sides back to the core. I assume this is what amgrocket is referring to.

Some people in the past may have figured this out and tried to keep it a secret selfishly instead of helping the community out. I cut a spare intercooler apart when I was going to make a top mount setup and found these chambers that made the intercooler a "triple pass" setup. The coolant flows in and then goes back and forth 3 times before it exits the intercooler. Water/coolant that is getting hotter and hotter and hotter is not doing any good to cool the charge compared to if it passed through once.

If you were to make it a single pass through design by removing those little chamber walls integrated in those side tanks you should have an improvement.

The other side

What's up Mikey, good to see you are still in the game. To answer your question, the intercooler mod I have, the e85 fueling I have, and it by no means comes close to controling the heat issues. Only with meth and a trunk tank filled with ice will that prevent my car from pulling timing.

A small nitrous shot used for cooling is even more effective in controling iats then meth/trunk tan in my case.
