Has anyone actually purchased PLM shorties for $800?

Has anyone actually purchased PLM shorties for $800?
Gents,
Need a shortie header for the CLS as the car is under warranty and I can't make obvious modifications to the system so there goes long tubes and Kleemanns. I keep finding post where members state that sellers would accept $800 offers, but I can't seem to find anyone whose willing to bite currently. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Best,
Jerry

The problem is that with Kleemanns or longtubes, one has to cut and weld sections of the exhaust at one point or another which no matter what would leave a mark. I prefer not to leave any trace of modifications should I need to invoke the warranty (I've had 2 warranty inspectors come out and inspect the vehicle for mods and verify that the repairs are needed).
Also I have a small suspicion that primary restriction of the stock exhaust is not at the primary cat/collector. Either way we'll find out when I dyno the car with just the shorties and no tune.

Hey no prob, glad to help. Looking forward to some dyno numbers as I was torn between these shorties and the kleemann mid lengths. If the results are similar, might as well get the shorties and save the hassle of deleting the primary cats.

Main thing with a supercharged/turbocharged engine it to provide an unrestricted exit for the exhaust. When the intake valve opens and fuel air charge is forced into the cylinder, in theory, the remaining exhaust gases are forced out as a result of the overlap between the intake and exhaust valves. This is why manifold pressure drops with the elimination of restrictions to the exhaust system.
Factory cats have significant restriction due to the severely reduced inlet tube size. If you choose to keep the factory cats, increasing the diameter of the inlet tubes will provide a significant improvement.
Whichever system you choose, be it a high efficiency log manifold to long tubes, the improvement in performance will be substantial.

Guy removes 4 of his cats and barely gains anything. It is only when he gets the blower pulley and tune does the car really wake up. I'm not saying that shorties are better than long tubes, I'm just betting that the majority of the gains seen in header installs is due the removal of the log manifold versus the catalytic converter.

There is a huge restriction at the header and primary cats. Take a look at your stock exhaust manifolds, not even headers just a crappy manifold with small collector. You'll see what I'm talking about. Same ex manifold shared by E500. Im planning to do a primary cate delate and upgrade the ex flange to 3". Shardul mentioned he picked up 25whop just from that alone.

Can't wait to see what they make on the dyno with a tune!

Okay just wanted to update you guys:
The ebay seller mentioned above said that he can only do it for $1000 per set.
I then spoke with Frank@PLM and told him I had (2) 55k car cars that I would like to dyno. One bone stock CLS55 and one 2004 E55 with blower pulley, EC tune and EvoSport shorties. He said that he can give me $1600 ($800 each) but I have to buy both of them. Wife doesn't want another set of shorties for her E55, so I only need one. If someone else wants in on this deal for the shorties PM me so we can make it happen. I'll dyno the CLS55 afterwards with the results. They come with a lifetime warranty if your the original buyer btw.

Hopefully you can find someone else to buy the other set. Would really like to see some dyno #'s. I did a search on the forum, and one guy dynoed +30hp and another +40hp from PLM shorties.

I used to have PLM shorties on my car and I did see improvements here are the steps I took (we use flywheel figures in the UK so dont have the RWHP figures with me)
175 crank pulley with 82mm TB, sec decat 548 bhp
Was advised my pump might not be working properly so had EC heat exchanger and new stock pump fitted same dyno 562 bhp
Then had PLM headers fitted 588 bhp
Next step was primary cat delete, 3inch exhaust to rear pipes and split cooling, needswings CAI 618bhp
Then added 84mm SC pulley, injectors and belt wrap 648 bhp

Thank you RaFFi and SavMan,
I would be very happy with those numbers as long tubes have long been to claimed to make 45rwhp WITH tune. Hell I'd be happy if I can net 20rwhp with just bolting on the shorties by themselves.
Unfortunately PLM will not allow 2 people to purchase the shorties separately so I will have to buy both sets which I'm going to order today.
