a wee bit OT: 90-hour detail job on a Ferrari F40

maybe give some ideas then next time you wash/detail/tweak your 55

seriously blown away at how much detail this guy puts into the car, almost like building a scale model at times with paintbrushes, etc...

i enjoyed those pics... Ferrari guy seems like hes loaded so bringing a detailer up to his house and preform a 90hr 10 day detail job isnt probably a big deal.

2005 Mercedes E55 AMG
Black Bentley coupe
Orange Lamborghini Murcielago (vert)
Red Ferrari 458

I'd say the owner is doing pretty well for himself

I appreciate the amount of work and thought that went into that detail, but removing the patina killed the car for me.

To each his own.

Amazing but subtle transformation on that F40. Loved all the pics, particularly the 50/50 pics to see the effects. The man is an artist...

The best detailers in my area (a pair of guys) do exotics like this and charge about 80/hr. Assuming the 90hrs could be done in half the time with two people, that's $3,600 not including airfare

Yea, that's what I'm thinking. The reputable detailers round the DC parts charge anywhere from $75-$100/hr.

But what's that from a multi-millionaire, right? Pocket change ...

I'm thinking it must suck to spend like two weeks working on a car like that, you develop a connection..hard not to fall in love lol. Poor guy must've spurt a tear at the airport.

I wonder if the owner let him drive the car after he was done..? Or at the very least , taken him for a ride in it...

You could consider it this way...
Ferrari F40
$1,000,000 (good condition U.S. value)
$4,000 detail
Spend 0.4%

Mercedes E55
$25,000 (assumption, no offense if yours is worth more)
Spend 0.4%
$100

Would you not spend $100 on a very high quality detail?

Or you could never wash it, and save that money for mods!

i had my best friend(former professional detailer) paint correct my E the first weekend i got it...took him like 12 hours. I could not imagine someone spending that much time on a car..the F40 is a dream car for me..nice find

Excellent point. Also, it is amazing how all of that work, while a subtle difference, to me is like a complete transformation. A for instance is the rear lexan - the before looks "normal", couldn't say it was "bad; however, after, it looks like ICE! Definitely makes me want to take the time to go over my vehicles and maximize their potential, but of course they are not on the same playing field as this beauty.
