I am extremely happy with my run tonight at the drag strip. When pulling into GLD I see a E63 in front of me waiting to get in. Looking at it I cannot tell if its the new TT or the older 6.3NA. I look at the license plate holder and see AMS Performance!! I'm thinking it has to be the TT and modded at that!! Well, I think to myself there is no way I have a chance against him, but I'll give it a shot. When I pull in to park and wait for track to open, sure nuff 63TT!! I talk to the guys from AMS and it's modded with bigger turbos, downpipe, tune. Something like 750whp!!! I thought I will get beat for sure, but it'll be fun anyway!! I just got my tune sorted out by Aleks at Logic Lab made 520whp/606tq with nice flat AFR's at 11.5-11.6. Last time out before the new tune went 11.46@120.5. Also have new from shardul Braille lightweight battery in the trunk 15lbs compared to 60lbs. It barely starts the car, and almost positive it would not start it two times in a row!!! Runnning MS109 fuel in the tank, temps about 48 degrees unsure of DA but had to be pretty low. We line up and I do a big smokey burnout, he does a smaller one. Pretty cold out so I figured I better warm em up good. Launch from the line and I take off in a flash 1.59 60ft, way ahead!! I cannot believe it, halfway down I looking in my rear view for him to zoom pass, but he doesn't seem to be gaining much if any ground on me!!! We cross the line with me still ahead, 11.18@392mph!!! What!!! Well the mph was not working correctly but ET was right. On my second run of the night in the lane with the working MPH my run was almost identical but a 124mph so I can assume that's about how fast I was going on this run. He came across at 11.48@125.85 with a 1.92 60ft. I know that I beat him at the line, and he had a few faster mph runs that night 127 was the fastest I saw. Still, I'm 100% satisfied with the run and excited for it to have been against such an unbeatable monster and won, true David and Goliath tonight fellows!! Yes sir, It's been a long, expensive road, but getting close. This was on a 100oct tune, waiting for the 109tune with a bit more timing, 10's could be coming soon. I always thought that guys pulling seats out were crazy, but I maybe one of them too if that's what it takes

Nice runs, I wonder what AMS car was doing since that is obviously not how fast the car is with it running slower than just a chipped one and with them running 10.7@135 previously with that car and I don't think it had down pipes at the time either. In that amazing weather you guys were in I would assume the car would have went under 10.5 easy at around 140.

You didn't happen to talk to them after the fact at all did you? I am wondering why they were running so "slow" doing some kind of testing or something.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what they were doing. I know he wasn't launching very hard at all, ie 1.92 60ft. I thoroughly expected to get beat. I know when I asked him how fast it ran before the race, I hinted low 10's, and he did not give me a direct answer at all. Thought they were just being modest. They were recording all the runs for promotional purposes so I'm assuming they were not just testing. Maybe they got faster through the night, I only ran twice as I was completely elated with the run and went home happy.

 

LOL I'm thinking at least 450!!! I saw an SRT-8 Jeep run 12.8@631mph last night too!!

 

Yeah knocking on 10s is cool, I am sure it drove you nuts though to get so close. I never came close in my E55 doing a best of 11.69 (no drag radials or real cold weather runs) but when I ran some 10s in my V I was excited. It is just a whole different league to say you can run 10s.

I am still puzzled by the AMS car though, because like I said, any tune only E63 bi-turbo will run faster ET and MPH than those results even in MUCH warmer weather. Would be interested to hear what AMS has to say.

 

Yes, I have definitely been bitten by the elusive hunt for 10's in this car. It may just happen, I had almost given up before tonight on that quest. Keep an the AMS website, I'm sure they will post some videos with play by play.
