Secondary cat delete questions...power loss? CEL? Raspy sound?
My car is going to the muffler shop next Monday and I'm torn whether I want to delete just the resonator (have C63 mufflers ready to go on) or delete both the resonator and secondary cat.
My concern with the secondaries is for a couple reasons:
1 - CEL/emissions
2- raspy sound - I DO NOT want a raspy sounding car, I want deep and throaty.
3- Power/tq loss down low.
My headers are stock and primaries still intact.
My setup is going to be sec and res delete with C63s or res delete and C63 mufflers.
I just don't want to lose daily driving needed tq down low and get a nasty raspy sound with the sec cat delete.
Any feedback from those who have deleted or have a combination or just one or the other?
TIA.......I want to be sure I do it right and get a deep sound before cutting and welding etc.
THANKS AGAIN!!

There are plenty of vids on the web of it. They haven't sounded raspy at all to me. Also, reviews state that you may lose a slight amount of torque down low (almost unpercievable) but noticeably gain some top end. That's a good thing considering the power band of a roots blown car.
I'm planning to do the same mod after my move next week, although I've also considering having a shop weld in some 3" Vibrant straight-through resonators in there to replace the restrictive stock ones.

Would deleting cats also affect AF? Would the car run more lean? I am guessing a tune would be needed for optimal benefit?
I am thinking just the res delete might be sufficient with the C63s. I do not want to lose down low tq as that's the best part about this car.

I am deleting my resonator and throwing on C63 mufflers as well! Hopefully, the mufflers arrive this week or next.
I am not touching the cats at all, this setup will be loud enough for me and I don't want anymore (wife, son, neighbors waking up isn't exactly what I'm looking for with an exhaust setup).
Deleting your resonator along with the C63 mufflers is going to sound PERFECT. I don't think it gets better than this setup. I am leaving the rest of my exhaust stock (stock headers, stock prims, stock secnds).
The only other way would've been to get LTHs and throw the C63s on.

I have primary and secodary delete and I get the raspasy sound in low RPMS once in high RPMS you don't hear it. I lost a **** load of back pressure as well. So I threw back on some 200 cats. It helped but not like stock. I also have kleenman headers.

Sounds like you need a pulley to bring the boost back whether it be crankshaft or supercharger.

Why does one looses boost when he opens the engine up on the exhaust side???
I have secondary cats removed, X-Pipe after them and no resonators. Sounds perfect, no raspy at all.
Very deep and subtle on idle and on WOT pretty good - not super-loud like most guys want to achieve, but perfectly fitting for a V8.
However i have a CL55AMG, not a E55AMG....

I have cats removed with headers with straight pipe it is raspy but I like it sounds mean now. with the c63 muffler car will be loud but depends how loud you like it it sounds good to me worst comes you throw them back on of it's too loud or raspy. Do you have headers ? And I wasn't aware that you loose power from doing this.
