The V is like the E55 where there is a filter on the fuel pumps in the tank, only in the V you have to drop the rear end and the tank to get at the pumps! There are guys who have been running E85 for a long time so the stock pumps must be ok. I have heard that you should run a tank of 93 through it every now and then though so you don't get a black gunk buildup in injectors or even pump I suppose.

I am not certain what timing guys are running but there are all different setups too so it is kind of hard to compare them. Some guys have bigger built engines, some are on bigger supercharger, some stock engine and blower. I do know my car is at 21*, it was at 22* on the dyno (on 93) but due to my coolant pump not working when I was tuning we had to take 1 degree out on the street. Another guy was running meth injection spraying a lot of it and was running 26* of timing which is what I am guessing you could probably run on E85 but I am not certain.

The one guy I did ask the other day about timing said he wasn't sure what it was set at, he said he thinks it was 22 but would have to check. That seemed low to me though.

Word to the wise, dont do that, lol. The corn got very thick which you could not see through the red plastic cans. Using that method, it would take me at least 15minutes to try and get my car started when it was 50* or colder. I asked about the pumps Brian/David because not all fuel pumps are E85 compatible. I learned that over the past year by going through 4 aeromotive 340lph stealth pumps that were claimed to be E85 compatible, well they are not:

The E85 fuel, and the fact that it can get thicker in the winter if the blend is not mixed correctly can cause havoc on the pumps. It corroded the black coating off the stealth pumps turbines, clogged them up and caused primature failure. Another thing you will need is a E85 specific fuel filter.

I love E85, the smell, pricing, and performance you can get out of it. There is however alot of headaches that go along with it that I hope you dont experience. If have any questions down the road, hit me up, odds are I have experienced it all on the corn.

Do you know how much timing they run in the CTS-V E85 cars?
here you go craig. all the fuel pump setup you will ever need. radium surge tank with twin or triple walbro 400 l/ph pumps. these are set up for e85 and if you run teflon coated lines the e85 will flow.

Those Walboro 400lph pumps are also failing prematurely when running E85. Walboro soon came out with their new 465lph pump that gets advertised as E85 compatible after the failures started to happen.

Thanks Meto, I appreciate it...fun lil focker isn't it?

45 degrees was a lil difficult to get traction...need to get used to the colder weather...I must have hit the limiter 6-7 times! lol...not good!
