Got brakes on the e63 and saw something totally

new.
I had one peice front rotors on it from the beginning and now my dealership installed a 2 peice front rotor anyone else have the same experiance.

Plus its nice to have better cooling on the rotors now.

This just gives me more options when I need to replace them again and probably will save me some money.

Just was curious if anyone else had this hapen on a 2008 E63.

TIA

I think MB put "2" piece Rotors, for better directly contact surface with load continues brakes &

less weight compared to the old "1" piece, & sporty design....!!

Yea, I thought it was strange that they were 2 piece but you had to replace the whole thing. Somewhat defeats a huge benefit

The dealership? Did they shaft you on the total cost?

do you know who made the solid rotor

I was looking for solid front rotors for the e63 and never found anyone making aftermarket rotors.
My car is a DD and no need for $1600.00 for rotors just BS. BMW M5 solid rotors...MB just give us the shaft, they should have the rotor alone as a replacement part...

Racing Brake 2-piece semi-floating rotors for $11xx.xx a pair. Not bad. When people upgrade to Brembo (caliper and 2-piece rotors), it's not that far off anyway.

Nope the dealership met the cheapest online price they could be found for so I was somewhat happy.
I mean for a MB dealership to that was a win for me in my opinion.
Saved me $457.12 from what they quoyed to what I found them online for.
Still high but that was alot to make them come down to.

Benzwerks 2 piece rotors are less than $1K/pair and you can replace just the rotor portion for around $250.

No info or prices on there site.
Plus if there quality is not atleast same or better its not worth the risk.
Mine have never squeaked or gave any problems but then I don't track the car either.
After ordering rotors and pads from others places/out of state with shipping and all it sometimes is not worth the little bit of savings and just better to bite the bullet with No hassles and get them from the dealer.
Allthough I saved close to $500 doing it my way.

So you bought OEM E63 rotors/pad from the dealer

how much did the rotor cost you....
Do you know who made the solid rotors that was on the car
I have never seen an E63 front rotor solid forsale or at any aftermarket vendor.
I have have OEM E63 at a steal but I am sure other members such as my seld would like to know who made the rotors that was on the car.

It really doesn't matter, they weren't the correct rotors, and if I was you id be back in the dealer having them replaced with the correct rotors (assuming you recently purchased the car). Nothing wrong with buying equal or better aftermarket rotors but I don't see the sense in cheaping out just because. The e55 rotors are significant cheaper which are the ones you had on ur car. I was able to replace all rotors and pads with OEM parts for about $1800 which is cheaper then the dealer wanted for the front rotors alone.

This comment isn't directed at any one but, if you can't afford to maintain the car properly then you shouldn't own the car at all.

I have no idea if they were E55 rotors or some other ones they just found and were put on for price reasons.

Those 1 peice rotors were on it when I purchased the car used, I just had them replaced with genuine MB 2 peice rotors.

I was just curious to what brand & spec they were for ****s and giggles.

The previous owner put them on there and I have no idea where he got them.

When it comes to brakes I don't let price dictate what I buy. Like I said I saved about $500 getting the dealership to match a online price from a MB authorized parts website.

E55 rotors can fit on e63??? I dont think so

I think the E63 rotors are larger and I know the pads is a 2 part design.
The 63 is a one piece pad.
I have OEM rotors as my replacement and pads but lots of members just drive the car and really don't need that 2 piece design rotor for DD.
I like it for the extra race look.
All I can say that before you by OEM rotors I would look into an aftermarket rotor which will be lighter with better performance. You can just replace the surface and not the completed rotor as in OEM.

The only reason I went with OEM is that I go the pair for $300.00

I'm not using the stock hats. I don't believe the stock rotor portion is replaceable. Stock rotors went in the trash since they were close to minimum thickness. Benzwerks rotors allow for replacement of just the rotor. For those of you looking for rotors, call Serge at Benzwerks. I think you might be pleasantly surprised with the quote he gives you. I'm not telling anyone what to do, just speaking from my personal experience. Giving the OP an option.

The set was less than $900 shipped to my door. Quality is excellent, I am running OEM pads with them.

Sounds good.
I will keep that in mind if I have to replace them again.
