Exhaust is done ... and I'm in love!

I honestly was not expecting her to sound this good. I've heard the C63s on other E55s, mostly guys with deleted cats, long tubes etc. and I knew they sounded awesome, but I was taking a different route in leaving the rest of the exhaust system stock other than deleting the resonator.

RESONATOR DELETE:
The resonator deleted added a bit of burble and throaty-ness to startup and acceleration, but wasn't earthshattering change. Cruising, it sounded bone stock. To be honest, to the untrained ear or non-E55 owners, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference, I could, though. The car wasn't any louder, but the TONE changed and that was what I was looking for with the delete. Not to mention the ~20lbs savings. My shop simply welded two stainless pipes in place of the resonator. There is absolutely ZERO drone with this mod. Sounds completely stock.

Having said that, the main reason I did the resonator delete was to compliment the C63s that would be going on later.

C63 MUFFLERS:

These are hands down the best sounding mufflers to me for a few reasons:
  • With the E55, you want to maintain some sort of subtle personality, the car is, after all, one hell of a sleeper. I don't want my unknowing opponents to hear me that easily.
  • Price. I don't think there is a muffler system on the market that can beat the price and sound you get from the C63s. They can be had for less than a grand (versus what, $2500+ for aftermarket mufflers) - mine was from a 2012 C63 with about 8000 miles.
  • The sound, oh the sound!
    •
      •
        • Cold start up: The car is LOUD. Put it this way, your neighbors will know you turn your car on, especially in a garage with the echo effect.
        • Warmed up: Stock. Not kidding, it sounds like a stock car.
        • Mild acceleration: Slightly louder, deeper, sounds more ballsy, but still somewhat stock sounding. Again, the untrained or unknown people wouldn't be able to tell.
        • Hard WOT: WOWWWWWW, these things get loud and brutal sounding. It sounds like a raped ape trying to get out of its cage. They sound awesome during WOT pulls. I used to be able to hear my blower whine, forget that now.
  • No drone with these cans. Cruising, normal driving, I sometimes forgot I had some work done to the exhaust. Cabin noise is unchanged or if anything, negligible/not noticed.
I am VERY, VERY happy with my setup. It is the perfect combination of tame and mild when you want, and a ferocious roar when needed. This is what I wanted in an exhaust. I do not like to wake up the neighborhood, **** off my wife, or rattle my garage doors (although this does happen on cold starts ). I wouldn't want any other setup.

PICS AND VIDS TO COME OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS, likely the weekend! I just haven't had the time the last couple days, busy before the holidays.

I will be sure to do a cold start, mild acceleration, cruise, WOT and driveby.

Stay tuned..

Yup, that was me Glad you liked it, I still haven't heard how it sounds from the outside other than someone revving the car. I want to hear the driveby WOT with the car. The car does scream though when you nail it.

And believe it or not, the C63 mufflers are a bit louder than those.

Vids seriously don't do these cans justice. In person, they sound amazing.

Guys
I gotta run out with the wifey and son, I only had a chance to get one short 20 sec teaser clip of the startup. I will get you guys tons of vids, inside and outside, so you can hear all ways on how it sounds. Just give me til the weekend, weekdays are pretty busy between work and personal life.

Trust me when I say VIDEOS DO NOT DO THESE CANS JUSTICE! THEY A MILLION TIMES BETTER IN PERSON than some crappy phone.

Mind you, this is IN MY GARAGE, so the sound isn't all that clear, but you can somewhat get the idea on start up and a brief few blips (car was still cold so only a 2K rev or two).

Now, how the hell do you post a video on the forum? (Yes, I'm an IT noob).

I think you have to upload via YouTube?

How much and how long was the installation?

Total labor for resonator delete and installing C63 mufflers was $360, which included the stainless piping etc. that was needed to make it flow as one system from the resonator straight piped into the mufflers.

TEASER VIDS for now ... cell phone vids don't show the true beauty of the sound coming these things.

COLD START:

COLD BLIP

How pissed are you guys at me now?

Thanks guys. ..yea, I wasn't an English major but I try.

Yea, the exhaust shop is awesome. One of the few reputable mandrel bend shops on east coast that does exceptional work. Their craftsmanship and worksmanship is incredible.

Headers...oh man... first off, the car would be too loud for my taste and wants haha. But the power, oh the power.
