Hi everyone


I am preparing to do some modifications for my car in the next month or two and thought I would put this post up to get people's suggestions on what I should do to increase the straight line acceleration of my car whilst still maintaining very good reliability and road manners. Below is an itemised list of what I have done to the car so far so I am happy for everyone to propose what mods I should do next and why in that order. I am budgeting to spend $2000 to $3000 when I have the money.


So far I have:


TTM air intake scoops
FTP 3" ceramic coated beast tubes
K & N air filters in stock airboxes
Eurocharged 82mm throttle body
Eurocharged 550cc injectors
Difilippo brand of headers with primary cat's removed
Shardul supplied smaller clutched supercharger pulley
Eurocharged split intercooler kit with upgraded front heat exchanger and trunk mounted water tank
Custom tune by Jerry of Eurocharged using Euro Flash V2 cable

So what do others think I should do next? Besides the above my car is stock standard. I was thinking of doing the following for now:


1) 1 step colder range spark plugs
2) larger crank pulley, either 168mm or 172mm (not sure which size or brand to go with but keep in mind I have a smaller pulley on the supercharger as well
3)Belt wrap kit and fit it the same time I fit the crank pulley
4) Quaife lsd diff
5) Retune by Jerry at Eurocharged to cater for the extra boost

So after reading the above what would you do differently and is my fuelling and cooling sufficient for these amount of modifications to keep things reliable?

No how about the most important part

A logging system , not that wifi obd but a real logging system like zeitronix, dashdaq or some type of afr logger, everyone is afraid of popping engines but the most important thing is being able to see what is happening with your engine

Put aside anywhere from 400- 1000$ for that then mod the hell out of your car

Why do you have bigger fuel injectors when you don't even have a lot of generated boost

over stock ? -Just want to know , what purpose do they serve ?

I'd say get a Dyno custom tune and since right now you are on the safe side of modding get

I fitted larger fuel injectors as a safety pre-caution and did it at the same time I fitted my 82mm throttle body.
You think I could have gotten away with it till now? I didn't want to have to rely on the standard injectors running close to a maximum duty cycle.

Please keep all the suggestions coming.

Us bloody Australian's call headers "extractors". We only use the word headers for the standard items that are supplied with new cars and when we go after market we call them extractors...sorry!

That is some good advice. I have just been to the Dashdaq website and l like the look of the windscreen mounted product. For those that have used this system should I rely on the boost and afr's from the obdii port of the car or consider using separate inputs with aftermarket sensors installed for these 2 items on the car?

Get a belt wrap kit and leave the car as it. Save the money for future maintainence you will need it!

I'd def go with meth turn the boost up throw a wide bannd in there so u can see ur air fuel mix then lsd def if u are havin traction issues maybe get an ecu tht u can have two maps on. One as a daily driver on pump gas then another with ur car tuned on e85 on more boost.

You need a wideband for the afr or get the zeitronix zt-2 which comes with a wideband and the dashdaq and you are golden

Try to use info from the obd for 1 or 2 parameters as its very slow and the more parameters you log the slower the refresh rate

Afr , stft, iats are some of the most important things to look at

Haven't we been through this 3 times already?

I have heard that running E85 on Benz's is huge $$$...that's why very few, if any, do it! Ctsv's you can do it easily...just pump in the E85 and tune it...done!

This. But more importantly. What are your goals for the car? Fastest thing in AUS? Fun daily? I think that will make a big demifference in where you next.

If you want it to feel faster add boost. If you want it to be faster add cooling/traction (LSD).

Quaiffe, belt wrap kit, data logger, kleemann 168 crank, maybe meth if you need it, custom dyno tune...

From that list ... belt wrap kit (helps tremendously, especially with a smaller upper pulley) and LSD.

Car should have enough power, now make it as usual as possible.


My next mod is LSD and wider tires!

That's funny, us bloody American's use the words exhaust manifold for the standard items that come stock, and we call the aftermarket term "headers".
