Are my rear air springs leaking?

After parking the E55 for 2 days, the rear height would eventually end up lower by approx .5 to .75" compared to when just parked. When restarting the car the rear level re-rises to the previous level. Fronts do not seem to change. This is in non-raised comfort mode.

Are the rear air bags leaking and need replacement? 06 w/ less than 40K miles. Have warranty that covers everything but hope not to spend a couple days at the shop just to find out it's normal behavior. Thanks!

They all leak over time as long as the raise back up when you turn the car on you are fine and don't need to replace them

i left mine undriven for a week and the rear was lowered to basically where the rear wheels were tucked, drove it yesterday with no issues. i guess im gonna have to wait and see if there is a leak. i do plan to bring it up next month with some other issues that i think is gong on with it since its warrantied also.

If it happens over just a few days then you've developed a leak that will eventually get worse. It may take a long while to totally fail but it will add extra and unwanted strain on the air pump. Get it fixed while you have a warranty!

what's the temperature outside? If cold they tend to leak more. When I was in CO they'd deflate fairly regularly in winter. In summer they'd stay put.

Thanks for your replies. Temps these past couple of days temps have been upper 20s / lower 30s and the car did seem to have lowered more compared to a couple of months ago. Would like warranty to take care of it but they either require a fault code or evidence the part has worn beyond factory tolerances (at least it doesn't have to be complete failure). If the tolerance is no loss in height then it'd be an easy claim. Read the Arnott rears give a firmer, more controlled ride...

That low of temp will certainly contribute.

Few warranty companies will cover this since it is considered wear item. I had warranty (supposedly fairly decent) and they would not cover it. I replaced with Arnotts and never worry about them now … Mine was similar to yours .. they'll likely last another year or two, then when the compressor comes on more frequently, that'll be the time to change.

Re aftermarket warranties and wear items, I had to search long and hard to find a company and the version of the all-in product that covers wear and tear as well. Not maintenance wear items like brake pads, wipers, belts, etc. but anything else that wears beyond factory tolerances are covered. Already had squeaking pullies, a weak pump, etc. covered without drama. Now for the air shocks, motor mounts, another squeaky pulley.
