Any issues with changing oils on ramps?

I have access to a lift, but it's a good hour drive each way. I was hoping I could just drive my E55 up on my ramps and knock it out. Of course the plan would be to drain it on the ramps, throw 9 Qts in. Back it down, then add the remaining oil to get the level right, as I assume the car needs to be on level ground. Is this ok, or do I need to plan eating an evening driving down to my lift? She's gone almost 9K on this change, and even though the warning isn't on to change it, I just can't take it anymore

Yeah, it'll work fine. Both drain plugs are at the rear of their respective sumps, so you'll get a good drain with the nose of the car in the air.

I'd probably add 7 or 8 quarts and then pull it off the ramps to set the level, but that's just me. Probably doesn't matter one way or the other.

Can also get an extractor and you never have to ever take the car off the ground.

Researched that a bit and came to the conclusion that I should just drain the pan. Supposedly Mercedes dealerships do it, but I found one good post where the guy did the vacuum method and then dropped the pan and there was still a significant amount of old oil leftover. I'll see if I can find it again.

On the w211 55K you have to drain it. The car has two sumps and two drain plugs. An extractor only reaches one of the sumps, so it doesn't work on this car. I have an old extractor I use on all my other Mercedes, but it's not for the E55.

It does not get it all but there was not that much left when I did it. I do also change mine much more often than 9k. I would agree it probably is smart to drain both pans with that kind of milage.
