Eliminating secondary cats, how does the sound change?
How does deleting the secondary cats alone change the E55 exhaust sound? Does it change tone, more raspy, just louder? Is it worth the effort for power gains?
I just secured E63 mufflers and will be installing soon on an otherwise completely stock exhaust. I may end up changing the mufflers and leaving it at that, but i'm entertaining the idea of opening up the system a bit more.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. I heard a video of mufflers only and many videos of mufflers w/secondaries AND resonator removed. If anyone has a sound clip/vid of secondaries only and mufflers, that would be great.
I listened to this 55 with mufflers only and really like the sound -
To me, having both removed makes it a bit too loud and raspy for my taste. I was thinking removing the secondaries only might give some extra volume/throatiness without losing the deep tone. It seems to me the resonator is there to smooth the sound out and eliminate the rasp.
