Hey brotha, saw you called last night. Don't worry just yet, and if you get that code pulled, that will help alot. Getting an esp malfunction leads me to think otherwise besides a hurt motor. I have seen that happen a few times. Typically it comes back to a tune issue. Did you have any leaks or smoke out the exhaust?

Good luck and another way to check the engine real quick , is to open the oil cap while engine is running and if a lot of smoke is coming out, then you have blow by.

Sounds like with no oil coming out anywhere, no smoke from rear pipes or steam, that you may have another issues that could be minor.

Probably a coil took a dump on you, but if the engine blow, you can swap this in

Gasket was sucked in and was causing TB to reset I guess would be a simple way to put it so the car was surging like a miss. The esp light was the TB fault I scanned with SDS to find problem I'm glad I went back in the. Light or I might have ran the car and had that thing go all the way down in there

it is a rubber gasket that goes on the intake Y pipe. this gasket getting sucked in is a common problem I have seen it happen before.

this was all when i had the STOCK air intake and the stock 74mm T/B so go figure and now i have everything upgraded and bigger and is perfect. I just ended up going and getting a stock rubber for the 74mm and slapped it back on and it was fine but yahh it was pretty scary because the butterfly on the TB was staying open and the car would rev up so shardul pointed me to that direction the first thing i go remove the airboxes look in and boom there is the stupid rubber piece in there cought... i took it out car was back to normal perfect and just added a new seal

Good news and I have seen that happen a few times on the dyno before.

Similar thing happened to me one time too (stock motor) but the ESP light didn't come on. I asked around on here and one of the chaps (I think a guy with a greeny corvette) suggested I look at that vacuum area by the TB and that was actually the problem too.

The misfire itself is quite spooky though and enough to make you upset until it's fixed. I defo didn't think it was a blown engine though. I've sadly got too much experience of those in other cars to know exactly what that's like.

Yeah … I was going to post about being pessimistic. Always get it on a DAS and pull whatever codes/tests you can. Glad it was something simple for you.

By the way does anyone have a spare 82mm TB gasket or part number for it? I need one

Awesome! .. are either of these the black rubber gasket that goes on to the plastic y-pipe?

Edit … just checked, seems like neither of these are the one I am looking for. I am looking for the one that goes between TB and plastic y-pipe. The one you need to turn inside out when retrofitting 82mm.

Thanks

I just read this whole thread and I was getting scared for you knowing what these engines cost to buy or rebuild and the work involved. I am glad that it was something so simple!
