brake job on E63

hey guys i have my car at the dealership for A Service and am wondering what you all have paid for brakes -

Dealer quoted me $2700 for the job.

I know parts are $1900

Any suggestions on where to find the parts for a better deal?

Thanks
MIke

I just had mine done in june, that sounds just a quote for the fronts alone from the dealer.. i bought my own parts, front and rear rotors/pads, sensors and fluid... end up not being able to get the caliper mounting bolts off so i paid the dealer $500 to R/R everything.

This the best i could find for OEM parts, i didnt really look at any aftermarket items.

Fronts I assume at that price?

I recently put these on with the ET500 pads and they are performing very well.

yes that is fronts only -

i talked to a local mb shop and he told me that MB is charging so much as they are the only ones really making these rotors - said you can look at tuning companies but will probably be more - so MB can charge what they want as there is not a huge demand for these rotors -

I am all over the web looking for some and have found about the same 700 a rotor vs 900+ from dealer.

Luckily i am at 4mm left and once the light goes on said I can still get 4K more miles - so i have some time.

I did see a used set with 500 miles on them, but wanted opinions on used rotors -

Got a call from the dealer last night that the motor mounts are leaky so the warranty is taking care of that - hoping i can get the lifters to start clicking before the warranty expires in Dec of this year.

It is a very easy job to do with the right tools. RB rotors, and there are other ones out there that are cheaper then the factory and lighter. Pads, you can opt for low dust to save you from cleaning your wheels all the time. The hardest on my car was removing the rotors from the hub from being seized/rusted on, but it will come off with a spray of lube and mallet. Save yourself some cash.

Coming from a dealer tech, I would not waste your money on factory amg 2 piece rotors. They are not directional, causing one side to run hot if driving hard and the rotor rings are not serviceable. You have better options with the aftermarket.
I would recommend the above racing brake rotors or these.
http://www.girodisc.com/Girodisc-Rea...s-_p_6513.html. These are for a e55 but the offer e63 rotors. Just contact them.
Both options are directional, serviceable and cheaper.

When it comes to two piece rotors, there is no other brake company that's more competent, experienced, and coverage than RacingBrake.

We offer the most comprehensive coverage for Mercedes than all the competitions combined.

Our offer usually includes rear two piece (if can be made) for the same models to comply with the stock balance in weight saving. And our rear two piece comes with iron liner to retain the stock emergency brakes unlike others just cut from aluminum and must disable the e-brake.

Our rotors are made to stand for the toughest track abuse as well as street performance driving.

Although we are a sponsor of this forum, but we may not be able to watch/chat in the forum all the time, but we will promptly answer to your request by phone (714-871-6392) or PM.

In most applications, our brake packages also include our low dust squeaking free, performance street (ET500) brake pads, like those we just made to replace SL550.

Please feel free to give us a call or PM us if you have any further questions.
