Timmayfest 2014 who's going?!
Been to this for the last few years and its awesome! Who's going this year? Getting the 55 modded and heading to the track to see what she can do
What is Timmayfest?
Timmayfest is a BMW/Mercedes Benz/Exotics car meet put together by true enthusiasts. It is not a car "show" (though we do hand out a few trophies) and there is no entrance fee. It is just a gathering of people who share a passion for high performance driving machines. Timmayfest really started out as a small BMW/Mercedes car meet of people who only knew each other by talking over online car forums such as M5board.com, Ohiobimmers.com, and MBworld.com. We decided it was finally time to get together and meet the people behind the computer screen. We chose to hold it in Columbus, Ohio since it was a central location to those involved. I volunteered to organize it along with help from a few other local guys. Jokingly, we named it "Timmayfest" after my screen name that I use on the before mentioned forums, Timmay77, which against my better judgement, it has remained. The word spread that there was going to be a car meet in Ohio through other online forums, thus growing. We managed to put together 130 cars the first year (2010), over 200 the second year (2011), growing to 250+ in 2012 and 2013. We had cars attending from as far away as Rancho Cucamonga, CA, 2 years in a row!
This year we be raising money to donate to Cancer research/treatment. We are currently requesting info from Saint Jude's Children's Hospital to be our charity for the year. I will update when we finalize things.
Event schedule:
Friday, June 6th - Dyno Day - IPS Motorsports - 9am - 2pm - We will again be holding a Dyno Day at IPS Motorsports, 2 pulls for $50. If you would like to have your car dyno'd, PLEASE call IPS and preregister. They will dyno as many cars as they can in the time given. Don't forget about the trophies for highest HP numbers!

Friday, June 6th - Drag Night - Marion County International Raceway - 4pm - 11pm - We have privately rented MCIR for our use, mostly thanks to a member of the M5board who picked up the ENTIRE RENTAL FEE on his own. He is an avid drag racer who loves the sport. I can't thank him enough, it has taken a huge weight off of my shoulders. Due to his generosity, 100% of this year's entrance fee will go into the pot for the charity! We are only asking for a $20 donation to run your car down the track as many times as you want. From past year's experience, you can run as many times as your car can take. 20, 30, 40 times. Have fun!!
We will also be traveling to MCIR, caravan style, leaving from the Hilton hotel at 3pm.
Marional County International Raceway

Saturday, June 7th - Timmayfest 2014 - Quaker Steak and Lube Polaris - 10am - 3pm - We are meeting at the same venue as the last 4 years, Quaker Steak and Lube in Polaris. It is a very convenient location with plenty of hotels, restaurants, and the Polaris Mall right across the street. We will of have a DJ spinning some tunes and plenty of vendors with items on display. We will be selling Timmayfest T-shirts, police escort tickets (info below)and raffle tickets to raise money for the charity. The raffle will be for items donated by our sponsors starting at 3pm, along with the awards ceremony for the traveling trophies. (info below)
Quaker Steak and Lube

Columbus, OH 43240
We decided to have a little fun and pass out some "traveling trophies" for the following categories.
Gents favorite
Ladies favorite
Worst luck
Best 1/4 mile slicks
Best 1/4 mile street
Farthest traveled
Highest HP 8 cyl and up
Highest HP 6 cyl and down
The way it works if you win: You are awarded the trophy and your name is engraved onto a plate that is with each trophy. You are obligated to either mail me the trophy or come back to Timmayfest the next year to try and win it again. I think everyone had fun with it.
Saturday, June 7th - Police escort to dinner - 5:30pm - We are hiring a police escort again this year to travel to the restaurant. Tickets to participate are $10. They can be purchased at Timmayfest or at the entrance to the IPS parking lot prior to lining up for the escort. This is one of my favorite parts of the weekend every year. They COMPLETELY shut down all of the highways and surface roads for us! Last year we had over 100 cars in the escort and it was over 1 mile long! We will meet at IPS Motorsports (8333 Green Meadows Dr. N. Suite C, Lewis Center, OH 43035) at 5:30pm for a driver's meeting and to be lined up by our police escort, leaving promptly at 6:20pm, dinner is scheduled for 7pm at a "to be announced" location.
Here is a note from an officer concerning a police escort:
"A full blown escort by 2 cruisers and 2 bikes is serious business. We can't have guys jumping line and acting like idiots. You will never know when a bike is flying up at 120mph to get the next on ramp blocked. If you jump line, it could cause serious injury to that officer. If you can't follow the rules during this 15 mile escort, you will be asked to not attend dinner, and you WILL be ticketed. So please, everyone act responsibly and let's have a blast!"
If you wish to not participate in the escort and just meet us at the restaurant, that is fine too. Dinner reservations are set at 7pm.
Saturday, June 7th - "The Afterparty" - Following dinner, we all head back to the Hilton to enjoy a few adult beverages and some shinnanigans.

My and my wife's attendance is mandatory. We're the Grand Marshalls. We'll be there Thursday, and the blur will start to come back into focus Sunday afternoon. What happens in between those days is usually never spoken about again, except in code. Like the giraffe.

the track is a roller coaster ride no doubt. but they do run jet cars there so speed isn't an issue. i was actually hooking good enough last yr to be within .001 of craig's car on street tires. this yr I'm taking no prisoners! I'm going for biggest hp for 6 AND 8 cyl cars and fastest on street AND d/r's with my street tires!

No effing way they run jets there! If they do, they're shutting them down at the 1/8th or 1000ft at the very most. You do remember dodging the pot holes on the big end of the track, right? In dyno mode, I couldn't stand on my binders, but I nearly put it in the cornfield. I haven't run it since that first year, so maybe the prep was better the last two years....
Didn't somebody have to dodge a deer last year?

Honestly, if it's her birthday, don't convince her. Give her the option, and if she agrees, come get stupid with us. But don't talk her into doing car stuff on her day. Do something she wants to do....

She said it would be nice to go, as long as we don't have to go back to NC around that time.
