car is on the water!
Talked to my dealer today, got the VIN and the car is on the water.
Can't wait for it to arrive. I hope it gets here as an early Christmas present.
Hopefully just a little over a month to go now.

congrats
I remember how anxious I was just a couple of months ago. You may want to check with your dealer in detail now to ensure the options you ordered do match with those on the VIN!

BTW...what's your VIN...I would like to compare to my car that is supposed to be on the water soon. My last digits are 94A451077.
The first 8 digits are the same for all 2003-2004 E55's that I have seen on autotrader.com. Thanks.

Mine is a lower number than yours, but it also begins as 94A######.
Just curious as to why you want to know?
I'm calling my dealer on Monday for my weekly call. Hopefully she'll have an ETA for it.

Mine is on the water, too. My dealer is not very insightful, but he believes that my car was built on November 11 and was probably on a ship out of Bremerhaven and bound for Los Angeles sometime thereafter. His best guess was I should receive mine by the end of December.
If anyone could help me get a better fix on the likely date my E55 will arrive at the dealer's, I would be most appreciative!

The only reason I want to know is to see some sort of timeframe before my car is shipped. If yours is on the water and the sequence is close then I'll be less anxious. What would I do with a VIN anyways....?? If you won't post it, then give me that I am within tens, hundreds, or thousands of your VIN. Thanks.

Oh ok. I'll check the VIN when I get home. I'll be calling my dealer later today to check on its status. Hopefully she'll have more of an update.
But if I remember correctly, just off the top of my head, my number was in the 500000 range.

The latest update from my dealer is that the car will clear customs 12/19. Then it will stay at the VPC for about a week to have the phone installed and then be delivered to the dealership.
She said I might even get the car before Christmas. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I'm realistically expecting to get it sometime the beginning of January.
Stephen04E55, I think you may be getting your car before mine. However, I don't know what port your car is going to since you live in Virginia and how that may affect your delivery date.
BTW, my build date was scheduled as 11/20, but I think it got built earlier for some unknown reason and was built on 11/12 instead.
The wait is almost over!

I hope you get yours real soon, T-bone. Right after me. hee hee.
Dang! No messages on the machine. Must refocus to pleasant thoughts that don't involve warp speed getaways with the stereo blasting.

I just received a call from the dealer today stating that my car will be ready for delivery within 72 hours!!! Damn, I didn't get many updates through this process but I am very happy that the beast will arrive in a few days. Thanks T-bone for the info concerning your car and I did not mean to intrude on your car's VIN. The port that is used for Virginia is Baltimore and my car is going to be delivered to a Washington D.C. dealer. That must be the reason why my car will be in my hands so fast. Supposedly my build date was 11/20 as well but it may have been earlier. Thanks.

No apologies necessary Stephen04E55.
You lucky guy! I wish I could be thinking about getting my car in 72 hours too. Probably because I'm on the west coast, it takes longer to get here.
Be sure to take some pics when you get it.

t-bone - maybe your build date was 11/2D and not 11/20. 2D means the 2nd decade or 11th through the 20th of any given month. Sometimes it looks like a zero but all factory build dates will have a month followed by a 1D, 2D or 3D!!!

you know what, I think you're right. Because when I first placed my order the dealer told me it would be built the second decade of November. I guess when she told me recently, she was misreading the build date.
Anyways, it's ETA is 12/19.
In the meantime, I'm just buying a bunch of accessories for it.

Yeah, t-bone...I already have the Green air filters and auto-ventshades sitting on the floor beside my computer. Thought I was the only guy that "pre-buys" accessories for a car that isn't even here yet.... My wife thinks I'm a lunatic. You still haven't told me how close your last digits of your VIN is to mine.... At this point it really doesn't matter.

Stephen04E55, I totally forgot to check last night.
But yeah, I have bought an AMG flat hood badge and euro bumper strips.
Not sure what performance accessories I want to buy yet. I think I'm gonna drive the car a little while before doing anything like that.
Right now just cosmetic accessories.

So, you prefer the flat hood badge to the traditional hood emblem? Not sure which one I like and I'll probably leave that stock. Dealer called me again today and told me the car is at the dealer and will be ready to pick up on Thursday... Made sure to tell them to leave some rubber on the tires and gave explicit instructions not to wax the car. Every time I have received a car that has been waxed, they have left so many fine scratches in the clearcoat that I have been unable to resolve for the life of the vehicle. Maybe this time they will just wash it and leave it alone since I reminded them again today. Can't wait and I believe that the same mistake was made with my car concerning the supposed 11/20 build date and that actually meant 11/2D for the second decade in November. I'll be numb when I finally get to drive my beast for the first time. YEAH!

Man, I'm jealous - you east coasters get your cars much faster than we do here on the left coast!! I just checked with the shipping line and my boat ( with car) comes to LA on 12/7 so hope to have the car a week later.
btw - I've already bought extreme white bulbs for parking, fog and hi-beams to match the Xenons!!!

mbprince,
Could you post the kind of bulbs you bought and where you bought them? I'd like to get some too for my parking, fog, and hi beams.
Gotta stock up on the accessories before the car gets here.

Good news abounded yesterday. Our salesman said the car was coming in yesterday and we're picking it up tomorrow afternoon. And the Dunlop snows were stacked up on the porch when I got home. Always amazed at how quick Tirerack gets orders to people.

t-bone - the E55 uses a 9006 for the fog, an H7 for the Hi-Beam and a PIAA 19169 for the parking lights. I ordered the 9006 and H7 from Lighting Research in Florida 'http://www.lightingresearch.com' - click on the Metal White button at left side of page and I got the PIAA 19169 from 'www.ttstuff.com'. The H7 bulbs are available in the stock 55 watt and a 70 watt, I bought both and have been using the 70 watt in my E500 with no problem!!
