Annoying humm coming from front of car +see video+

Hey guys, been following MB world for a while now, back since when i had a clk 430 and the help of gotten from here is worth its weight in gold. I was out of the Mercedes scene for a few years, (needed a reliable commuter car for school). But im back now, and got myself an 04 E55. Car is meticulously maintained, and is pretty much up to date on alot of the maintenance. But just to keep it safe ive been swapping out parts such as the SC pulley bearing, SC oil, Tranny and Diff oil, etc..

Anyway recently ive noticed a humm/whine coming from the front of the car when idling. Ive tracked it down to somewhere near the cooling fan?? anybody have any other thoughts, parts numbers, etc...thanks guys

Yes, usually after driving it it will go away, but sometimes it wont. But its always on cold starts.

I'd check the secondary air injection pump. It only runs full-bore while the motor is warming up. That thing can get pretty noisy when it's on its last legs.

If you can get your car into a dealer/mechanic they can turn the pump off with STAR and then start the car. If the noise is gone you have your answer.

Thanx, i got a guy in town who works on imports. Il bring it over see if we can eliminate or confirm if it's the air pump.
Although doesn't the air pump shut off after a few minutes of running? This doesn't, only shuts off sometimes after driving.

Got the SC bearings coming in the mail. Should be here tomorrow or Friday and il get it on on Saturday. Although the sounds appears to be coming from much lower than the SC.
I've also been looking at the SC idler pulley for sale here, but might just get the while kit with 5 pieces (belt wrap).

Anybody know the location of the water pump on these? I know my honda made a higher pitched noise when the pump started to go.

personally i think it has to do with the oil pump.. or something behind the front timing cover. my car will do the same although not as bad as yours. I had it on the lift the other day and put a stethoscope to the oil pan and heard it coming from the front part of the sump
