C63 mufflers with standard E55 tips on my E55?

Hi

Does anybody know if I purchase the rear mufflers off a 2010 C63 without the tips, can I put my standard E55 chrome tips on these mufflers and install them all ok on my W211 E55?

Do the standard tips off a C63 muffler look similar to the standard tips off an E55 muffler?

Regards,

OZZYAMG

There was just a post on the front page a couple weeks ago about a member who put c63 mufflers on his e63. It sounded ridiculous and looked great! Not sure if the E tips could be put on the C mufflers but from recollection there isn't much difference between the tips so I don't think it would be necessary.

Hi

Thanks enigma94 for your reply. The reason I asked if the E55 chrome tips can fit onto the C63 mufflers is I may have secured a used set of C63 mufflers locally to me but their might be a possibility they will be supplied without the standard C63 chrome tips and will require chrome tips to be fitted.

If they are supplied without any chrome tips I would love to be able to fit my standard E55 chrome tips on the C63 muffler.

They are identical tips. If needed, you could cut the pipe that holds the tips off of your old mufflers and weld it on to the C63 mufflers.

There is one bracket on each C63 muffler that may need to be hack-sawed off during installation.

Hi

Thanks Denroll for your reply, it is exactly what I needed to know. It is good I can purchase the set of used C63 mufflers in my area without the tips and just use my existing tips.

And yes I am also aware of the 2nd bracket that the C63 mufflers have that needs to be cut off.

Why create more work? The tips are the same. I shaved the connecting pipe to the deleted resonator also and welded new pipes from straight pipes (where resonator originally was) back and welded to the C63 cans. Worked great and looks great from behind the car.

Sounds like he's getting the mufflers without tips. They were probably sold to a regular E-class owner.

I got lucky with my set. From a 2012 C63 with just a few thousand miles. Tips were immaculate. I clean them up with Barkeeper's Friend and they look amazing.

Ditto, from a 12 C63. Tips were perfect. I keep mine shined up with NEVR-DULL from PepBoyzzzzzzz. Once a week does the trick!

Hi

Yes, the issue I have is that I am most likely purchasing the C63 without any chrome tips as the current owner of the C63 mufflers has indicated he would prefer to keep the standard tips which is perfectly fine by me.

I know it would be less work to not have any tips on but I don't think I would like that look.

And my preferred option is to have my car looking as original as possible.

Thanks for all the replies and feedback.

Regards,

OZZYAMG
