That is really interesting results. Did you notice you had almost 1 MPH faster in the 8th but your 1/4 trap was down by little over 2 MPH ? That is a huge decrease in the back half of the track. I was always told stalls help your ET but lower trap speeds some. Seems to be the case with your car as well. 25.5 MPH back half with stall vs 28.14 without stall. Almost 3/10th Better ET though with stall. Should help a lot from a roll as well.

What kind of boost can your car handle anyway ?

There was a different issue with the car that caused the lower trap speed. I'll post that up soon.

So reading through all this review and arguing I will post up again. I understand that my car is a completely different set up then stock blower but I will say that I would not be running these times without this UPD converter. PERIOD!
I now have the world record and would not be close to what I ran without it. As for normal driving on the street, this converter is amazing and I have no issues. But let's not forget that I have a CLK DTM tcu tune in my car. Which is awesome by the way!
I do have the fastest 60ft time for the E55 with a 1.49 on the stock converter. BUT I wish I would have had this converter while I was running then. I was able to stall the stock converter to 1500rpms without any pushing or spinning. But if I would have had the 3000 stal converter I could have launch even harder. I'm a big fan of stalling and not flashing.
But I can't hide the fact that my 60s on the turbo setup went from 1.9s-2.1s to 1.6s all day. I can stall it all the way to 3000rpms. I am still working on getting a harder launch but the simple fact is that my turbos spool at 3600rpms. So I still have that gap. But the converter makes a huge difference in getting me closer to my powerband.
I guess in the end, my softer launching will save my driveshaft and axles, but I will be making some changes in order to launch harder. So I'll be upgrading those parts soon.

All in all, this is a great product and it produces great results. I'm a racer, I side with no one! I just want to go FAST!!

you just ran a 10.25@138 MPH ? Drool..... Are you maxed out on the boost ? No N20 right ? Turbos really are where its at IMO. LSX motors make insane power with them as well. So you gained a solid 10 MPH with swap over to turbo ? That is a worth while upgrade. We need a turbo kit for our cars, that would be sweet. Even the Turbo AMGs dont seem to trap over 130 MPH without upgrading the turbos. E55 is a good bit lighter.

Redbull ifyour worried about breaking parts you could always swap gears it will take the load off the hit since the car will move a lot easier. Plus at your power level the lock up clutch in that convertor will make your car pull even more.

I took the car out tonight after a few weeks of it sitting in the garage. I almost forgot how fun it is with this converter. Give it some boot, but not so much that it forces a downshift and you're met with a nice shove in the back.

I had a 3200 stall TCI converter in my old Syclone and loved it. Thinking about doing this mod, but want to know what's involved in yanking the driveline, transmission and converter for the DIY types. Has anyone here done this install in their garage or are you all paying shops to do it? Would love to see a write up with good pics on this swap along with the rear main seal replacement while the converter is out. What about a list of replacement MB parts required to do this job? If I can't install this TC myself over a weekend, I'll probably pass on this mod as I'm sure it's very labor intensive.

you can def install it yourself my buddy did mine at his shop because I did not have a lift available at the time, he yanks these transmissions out in not time its no different the any other rear wheel drive car. Just drive it normal for a bit when installed my car acted a little goofy for a few shifts till it adapted. from there get a good tcu tune to compliment it.

OK, the price is definitely right on these, I'll probably pull the trigger on one. First need to research E55 transmission R&R as well as rear main seal replacement before I commit to doing this mod. I have 2 Napa low profile 3.5 ton jacks, a third smaller jack and a bunch of 3 and 6 ton jack stands. Would using a combination of drive on ramps and jacks be sufficient to raise the car high enough in a garage to drop the trans? If anyone has any links to DIY write-ups on this job, please share them here.

Since I already have a Eurocharged TCU, I assume it will need to be reprogrammed/calibrated for the 3000 stall TC, correct?

Jeremy you can test drive my car to get a feel for it if you'd like. Gotta solve a belt shredding issue first.

You can run the UPD 3000 stall with our without a tcu tune just fine. If you have a TCU tune and then add a the stall, you should not need to do a re-tune, unless there are new updates you want. I added my stall after the tcu tune as well and have run the stall with stock tcu as well.

Carlos - That's a nice offer, I may take you up on that. Who did the install for you and did you do also replace the rear main seal while you were in there?

I contacted Circle D to try a converter yes. Once I found out it was the one you upsell and brand a "UPD" product I knew it was not worth it based on all the results posted on the forum. Hence not purchasing one. Should I post your professional response from their forwarded email to you on the forum so everyone can see what kind of person you are?

Btw, and STILL quickest and fastest 55. No spray needed here

Circle D converters are great! Everyone can save some money on the UPD converters and go straight to the source. https://www.circledspecialties.com/c-119-nag-1.aspx

No your memory is wrong. I had my converter done by them before you and Brooke started dealing with them. I'm my memory is correct I believe I'm the one that told Brooke about them. As a matter of fact my memory just remembered that Brooke still owes me a pulley to replace the junk RTR/UPD pulley I had. Thanks for helping me remember that.

So I bought mine from you? It's simple send them your converter and they will raise it to your desired stall. Been there done that. Speaking of the pulley I'll take a 180mm asp welded pulley since you/Brooke owe me one.
