S/C Pulley install Guidance regarding Shims
#26
Shims are right behind the pulley - you'd see them when you take it off. It's the circular metal things.
Btw there is a pulley failure thread in which the consensus was that "shims are on need only basis" that means- don't go by what someone posts here but
rather what's the stock distance between existing pulley. So if the existing distance is .35 maintain that and don't increase or decrease that.
Good luck

I also measured the clearence and it was around .5mm/.55mm so its to much, also the bearing has a little but easily noticeble play in it so I went on and ordered it. So there's shimms behind the pulley even from the factory? Is it possible to buy shimms from dealer if needed?
Thanks!

Try this method if you like- it is similar to the instructions berti provided
and Yes- the factory distance must be maintained in order to preserve the new S/C pulley's longevity unless until you read somewhere that .55mm is too much ?

Yeah tried exactly that! The bolt just seesms to be seized on there pretty hard.
And yeah post #19 by"unagi1" has an attached file on it wich seems to be an orginal MB "howto" on changing the pulley, there it says that the clearence should be .35-.45mm

The rattle gun option is the best though but even sometimes with those you need to heat them a little.

I managed to get my pulley off following most of the directions everyone has said. The main thing that did it for me was heat and then breaker bar. I tried with a wrench first but no luck. Just keep at it and you'll get it.
Unfortunately it didn't solve my issue but I hope it will for you.

Hey guys eurocharged also told me not to put any shims on my pulley ..is anyone running no shims?? ..the reason he told me to not put any shims is because the pulley plate is lose and is making a bad bearing noise ..he said that I might have a bigger gap and thats what caused my plate to become lose because it had to engage a lil more than normal ..
